Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) was a native of Cuiheng Village, Nanlang, Xiangshan County. He established the Republic of China, abolished China's thousands-year feudal system, and served as the first interim president of the Republic of China. He was revered by the Chinese as the "Father of the Nation" or "Forerunner of the Revolution."
Tang Shaoyi (1859-1938), a native of Xiangshan County (now Tangjia Town, Zhuhai), was the Prime Minister of the Republic of China when it was founded.

Yang Xianyi (1891-1923) was a native of Beitai Village, Xiangshan County. In 1922, he served as the director of the Aviation Bureau. In 1923, he built the first military aircraft designed and produced by China.
Wang Yunwu (1888-1979), a native of Xiangshan. In the 1920s, he took charge of the Commercial Press. In 1948, he served as the Minister of Finance of the Executive Yuan of the National Government, during which he launched the gold yuan coupon.
