Evolution of Tokyo Cultural Center
Tokyo Cultural Center is the representative work of architect Yasuo Maekawa, who won the Architectural Works Award of Japan Architectural Society in 196 1. Although the opening time of Tokyo Cultural Hall is a little later than that of Kanagawa Music Hall, it is already the earliest classical concert hall in Tokyo.

1982 symphony concert hall opened; Later, some concert halls with the latest sound technology opened.

1999, the reconstruction project is completed. The renovation project mainly expanded the original narrow space such as the backstage of the concert hall, making it the main venue for overseas art groups to perform.

On February 22, 2006, a performance called "Tokyo Cultural Center Pop Week Live" was staged in the small concert hall. Because pop music generally has no form of stage performance, this is the first time that Tokyo Cultural Center has staged a performance with pop songs as its theme in 45 years. Artists not only sing pop songs, but also perform string quartets and other programs.

On March 3rd and 4th, 2006, a celebration performance was held in the Grand Concert Hall to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Tokyo Cultural Center and the 45th anniversary of Yuzo Kayama (Japanese actor, composer, singer, guitarist and pianist) entering the entertainment circle.
