Industry experience
Steve first started playing music at the age of 10 when his family moved from Ireland to South America. At the age of 17, he collaborated on several songs with Miriam Makeba, known as the Queen of Africa. He released his first song "I Still Long for You". Then he co-edited the album "Khululeka" with LuckyDube and created a band called FriendsFirst.
Steve then moved to London and joined the party led by world influential Carl Wallinger. After a year-long tour, he signed his contract with Arista. He also played guitar and sang with the famous singer Robbie Williams. In 1998 and 2000, he sang No Ordinary World with Joe Cocker.
In 2000, Steve formed his own band called UnAmerican. The group recorded its debut album with Universal/Estupendo in Memphis, Neil Young and CrazyHorse's Digging and Who. During this time, Steve co-wrote songs with WHO frontman Roger Daltrey. The so-called "Second Out" he produced appeared as one of the songs on Daltrey's 2004 solo CD. UnAmerican then signed with Lost Highway and worked on their second album, but it was never released.
Lyric writing career
Starting composing music in 2001, Steve had the opportunity to write "Craig Wiseman" with national songwriter Craig in London. He was then invited to publish as a writer at BMG Music, a retreat in Nashville. It was "YOUNG" co-written by Steve, Craig and Naoise Sheridan, and it became a very serious contender for next year's Kenny Chess Award. Steve's UnAmerican vocals are on the same visit to Music City as Mount of Faith, who recorded "If This Is the End" and "Wicked," the catchphrase for her three-billion-selling 2002 CD. From there Steve had national radio hits: Tim McGraw's "My Old Friend," Brooks and Dunn's "That's What It's All About." "Summer Time" was all co-written with Kenny Chesney Beat Steve. Steve has never strayed far from his success in writing, and the genre continues his pop/rock roots. He also wrote that James Blunt, "one of the brightest stars" of 2007's All Lost Souls album, had two songs on David Archuleta's 2008 debut album .
