Tujia folk songs are few, mainly spread in Longshan, Baojing, Yongshun and Laifeng counties on the western edge of Hunan and Hubei, including folk songs, love songs, children's songs, winter songs and horse songs. Tujia folk songs are very different from local Han folk songs, showing the inherent characteristics of unearthed traditional music. Due to the small number of Tujia folk songs and the fact that Tujia's own music culture has faded in the long-term close communication with the Han nationality, these folk songs show high academic value.
