New Age music is a vaguely defined musical style, usually with beautiful melody, mainly instrumental music. Defining some groups or albums as a new era may cause controversy among fans because the boundaries of this type are not clear. Partly because of some artists' connection with the New Age belief, many other artists and bands have made it clear that they don't think their own music is New Age.
A large part of the music called New Age Music is electronic and instrumental music, which often depends on continuous pad or long-term operation based on sequencer. Very long songs, lasting more than 20 minutes, are not uncommon. Vocal arrangements and the use of acoustic instruments are not common (in many cases, high-quality samples are used instead of the latter). A recording of naturally occurring sounds is sometimes used as an introduction to a track or a whole piece of music. The characteristics are also applicable to many sub-genres of ambient music, and there is no boundary defined between ambient music and new era music.
