Overview of the Chopin Conservatoire in Warsaw

Patron of the Chopin School is born, Wojciech Bogus?awski establishes a drama school for actors at the National Theatre. Józef Elsner, a famous composer, conductor and educator, completed the transition from drama school to music conservatory.

The college was incorporated into the National University of Warsaw in 1821 and began to provide comprehensive and complete music education. In 1821, the school was renamed the School of Music and Oratory, or music school, and became part of the Warsaw University of Arts branch. This school is mainly engaged in music education.

Music master Chopin studied at the academy from 1826 to 1829. In 1826 the college was divided into two independent parts: the conservatory (affiliated to the university) and the school for the training of junior and intermediate talents (the drama and singing school).

Chopin studied at this music conservatory from 1826 to 1829. At the end of his second year, his tutor Józef Elsner gave him the following comment: "Musical genius"

In 1992 the school became a member of the "European Federation of Art Schools" and in 1997 in honor of the world-famous Chopin, the Polish music master, officially changed the name of the academy to "Warsaw State Chopin Conservatory of Music".
