Shangyin Primary School is a professional school, which is different from ordinary primary schools. The school system of Shangyin Primary School is only three years, and that of middle school is six years. Only students in the third grade of ordinary primary schools can sign up for the fourth grade attached to primary schools. Therefore, there is no first grade in Shangyin Primary School.

The Secondary Conservatory of Music affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music (referred to as Shangyin High School for short) is a national key secondary vocational school (technical secondary school) jointly established by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Ministry of Culture, mainly managed by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and directly under the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The school was formerly a juvenile class founded by Professor He Luting, a people's musician, on 195 1; 1952 Xingzhi art school music group merged into the juvenile class; 1953, the secondary music school affiliated to East China Branch of Central Conservatory of Music was formally established; 1956, the school was renamed as the second-class conservatory of music affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In the same year, the Children's Music School affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music was established. 65438-0996, Shangyin Primary School was merged into Shangyin Middle School, and the management system of music education in large, middle and primary schools was implemented. Since its founding sixty-five years ago, with the concern and attention of leaders at all levels of the Party and the state, the school has taken it as its own responsibility to cultivate national-level music talents, followed the law of music education and combined with the characteristics of teenagers, and formed its own distinctive school-running characteristics.
