A historical review of the School of Popular Music at Jilin University of the Arts

In 2006, Jilin University of the Arts established the Department of Popular Music;

Established bands: 1. Teachers’ Band (Guapeng Band: Ma Xuesong on guitar, Zhang Xiaoheng on keyboard, Liu Jun on saxophone, Liu Jianxi and Wang Huan, Bass Cui He, percussion Zhang Xing Qiao Yu Wang Hui) 2. Student band: Monochromatic Cube Band; 2006 exchange performance with Shenyang Conservatory of Music (the first performance of the department);

Participated in the first pop music competition of the China Music Golden Bell Awards in 2007 and won the silver medal for the band (Ma Xuesong on guitar, Cui He on bass, Zhang Xiaoheng on keyboard, Wang Huan on saxophone, Zhang Xing on drums, and Qiao Yu on percussion, won the silver medal on band) ; The student group won the Bronze Award for the Singing Group (Quan Zhendong, Xie Mingxin).

Dozens of special concerts were held from 2007 to 2013;

Jilin University "Jazz Night" on April 10, 2009;

2009 American Country Concert on May 26, 2010;

Crazy Concert on October 18, 2010 (three rock concerts)

Participated in the Chengdu International Popular Music Education Summit Forum and Popular Music competition, won the Silver Award for the Singing Group, the Most Popular Singer Award, the Silver Award, the Bronze Award for the Original Group, the Best Singing Award, and the Best Arranger Award.
