Beijing Modern Dance Company’s modern dance "Awakening"

Beijing Modern Dance Company's dance drama "Sleep" is a commissioned creation for the Berlin Art Festival in Germany. It was created by Gao Yanjinzi, artistic director of Beijing Modern Dance Company, and her mother, a famous choreographer and dancer. Ms. Luo Lili *** co-organized the performance, and the music was composed by the famous musician Liu Sola. "Awakening" takes "emotion" as the structural basis of the dance drama, and is composed of five mutually independent but closely related dance sections. It is not only a mother-daughter dialogue full of emotion and consciousness, but also a profound reflection on tradition and modernity. Through a double dance movement between two generations of women, "Awakening" uses a clear dance vocabulary to delicately and profoundly reveal and express the complex relationship of inheritance, continuation, development, and interaction between traditional culture and contemporary culture. This is like the ending of this dance drama - the daughter helps the mother break away from the shackles of tradition, the mother is able to go into battle lightly, and the daughter finds her true direction in the reflection of tradition and modernity. This is just as the creator himself said: "You see the dust in the air, and every bit of dust can represent yourself. When you are free, you find that you have returned to your mother's arms. You will become the tradition of your future children . This story means that tradition is the mother of modernity."
