Impressionism opposes romanticism's over-exaggeration and over-catharsis of emotions, and advocates that works show artists' impressions, feelings and atmosphere of instantaneous observation of objective things. It can be said that impressionist art tends to be objective. Their pursuit has influenced some musicians and their creations. The most prominent representatives are French composers Debussy and Ravel.
