In 1953, it was renamed the orchestra of the Central News Recording Film Studio, and in 1956 it was named the Central News Film Studio Orchestra. In 1963, it was placed under the Film Bureau and renamed Beijing Film Orchestra. In July 1971, it was reclassified as a new film. In 1981, it was directly under the Film Bureau again. In 1985, it was officially changed to its current name.

The orchestra has symphony orchestra, national orchestra, singing group, workshop and other departments. In the past 4 years, he has recorded music for more than 1 studios, including feature films, news documentaries, science and education films, documentary films, etc. for Beijing Film Studio, New Film Studio, Beijing Science Education Film Studio, Bayi Film Studio, changchun film studio Film Studio and Xi 'an Film Studio. Among them, the most influential ones are Longxugou, Blessing, Serf, Dear Premier Zhou Enlai, Immortality, Yellow weasel and so on. The orchestra has also participated in many important festivals, commemorative meetings and artistic exchanges at home and abroad, and won more than 4 awards for creation, command, performance and singing at home and abroad.
