The school code of Wuhan Conservatory of Music is 1 1524. Wuhan Conservatory of Music is the only independent music school in Central China. From 65438 to 0953, Zhongnan Conservatory of Music, established by the Music Department of Zhongnan College of Literature and Art, South China People's College of Literature and Art and Guangxi Provincial College of Art, was the starting point of Wuhan Conservatory of Music.

From 65438 to 0958, Central South Conservatory of Music merged with Wuhan Art Teachers College to form Hubei Art College. 1985 was renamed Wuhan Conservatory of Music.

Wuhan Conservatory of Music is one of the first professional conservatories awarded master's degrees in China, with three master's degree authorization points: music and dance, law (Marxist theory and ideological and political education) and master of arts (music and dance field).
