Ryerson University is located in Ontario, Canada, in the center of Toronto, Canada's largest city. It is a typical city university. Ryerson was founded in 1948. Development history
On 1852, Eggleton Ryerson established the Toronto Normal School in the historic St. James Square, which is the first teacher training institution in Ontario. The facility is also home to the Education Bureau and the Museum of Natural History and Fine Arts, now known as the Royal Ontario Museum.
Eggleton Ryerson is an outstanding educator, politician and Methodist minister. He is called the father of Ontario's public school system. He was also the founder of the first publishing house in Canada, and founded the Methodist Book Publishing House in 1829 (renamed Ryerson Publishing House in 19 19, and he was a member of McGraw-Hillryerson, a Canadian textbook and professional book publisher). Although McGraw-Hill Ryerson Company has nothing to do with Ryerson University itself, this famous publisher still runs a publishing business in Canada under the name of Eggleton Ryerson.
Ryerson Institute of Technology-Founded in 1948, 1966, the English name was changed to "Ryerson Institute of Technology", and 197 1 was recognized by the Ontario government and the Canadian Federation of Universities and Colleges as a university that can award degrees. In the same year, the university became a member of the Ontario Council of Universities (COU). 65438-0992 Ryerson University was appointed by the Canadian Engineering Appraisal Committee (C.E.A.B) and became the second university in Toronto with an engineering department. To show the cooperation between Ryerson University and Canadian astronaut roberta bondar, the space shuttle Columbia carried a flag with Ryerson's school emblem (until the accidental crash of the space shuttle in 2003). 1993, Ryerson University was upgraded to a comprehensive university by the Ontario government. In the same year, the school was renamed "Ryerson University of Technology" to reflect and emphasize the development of the school at the graduate level. In June, 20001year, the school was renamed again to locate the last Ryerson University.
