It consists of two or more simultaneous, related but different parts. These parts are independent, but harmoniously unified into a whole, forming a harmonious relationship with each other, with counterpoint as the main creative technique.
The application of polyphonic music can enrich the image of music, strengthen the motivation of music development and the independence of sound, and produce the effect of echo before echo.
polyphony
With a long history, the earliest polyphonic music was found in the church hymns in the Middle Ages, and the choir sang different melodies in different parts when singing carols. Later, the Dutch music school in the Netherlands further developed the theory and writing techniques of polyphony. Among them, composer guillaume dufay (1400- 1474) created the writing method and technique of "four harmonies". It opened up a perfect road for the later counterpoint theory.
