Xian Xinghai, a famous composer in modern China, is known as the people's musician, and his work Yellow River Cantata is widely known.
Xian Xinghai (June 13, 1905 - October 30, 1945), formerly known as Huang Xun and Kong Yu, was a member of the Communist Party of China. Born in Macau, China, and graduated from the National Conservatory of Music in Paris, he is a famous composer and pianist in modern China and is known as the "People's Musician".
He studied in Paris with the violinist Parney Obedofel and the composer Paul Ducasse. After returning to China, he actively participated in the anti-Japanese and national salvation movement. Among his works, the "Yellow River Cantata" is the most well-known. On October 30, 1945, he died in Moscow due to illness at the age of 40.

"Yellow River Cantata" is a vocal work with lyrics written by Guang Weiran (Zhang Guangnian) and music composed by Xian Xinghai. It was first performed in 1939 and was rewritten into a symphony in 1941. chorus.

In January 1939, after Guang Weiran arrived in Yan'an, he composed the recital poem "Ode to the Yellow River" and recited it at the New Year's Eve party of that year. The drama team created the "Yellow River Cantata"; in March 2010, in a simple earthen kiln in Yan'an, Xian Xinghai wrote continuously for six days while falling ill, and completed the composition of "Yellow River Cantata" on March 31. With the Yellow River as the background, it enthusiastically eulogizes the Chinese people's unyielding belief in victory in defending the motherland.
