The "Strong Group" was a Russian music group in the second half of the 19th century. The "Powerful Group" consists of five composers. These five composers are Balakirev (1837-1910), Guy (1835-1918), Borodin (1833-1887), Mussorgsky (1839-1881), Rimsky- Korsakov (1844-1908). Around the end of the 1850s, in order to develop Russian national music, these composers formed a music creation group in Petersburg under the organization of Balakirev. On May 4, 1867, Rimsky-Korsakov's "Fantasia on a Serbian Theme" was performed under the baton of Balakirev and was a great success. Stasov (1824-1906), a music critic at the time, commented that Russia now had its own "powerful group". Since then, the name "Powerful Group" has been recorded in the history of music. The composers of the "Powerful Group" have the same interests, beliefs and consistent aesthetic principles. This is to inherit the tradition of Russian national music, carry forward the artistic language of Russian music style pioneered by Glinka, and draw rich knowledge from many aspects.
