The following is its introduction:
The Secret Garden won the European Singing Contest in 1995 with his Nocturne, which made history. This entry is more an instrumental work than a song. In the 40-year history of this prestigious pan-European TV event, an instrumental work has never won an award. This song is completely divorced from the "European popular format" usually associated with singing competitions, so that the media said: "The Secret Garden redefines the Eurovision singing competition".
The secret garden continues to write history. This unexpected victory in the European singing contest is the ultimate demonstration of the successful launch of ir's first album "Songs from the Secret Garden". It is available all over the world, including most of Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, China, Hongkong and South Korea. This is a historic event for a Norwegian artist and record company. For the first time, they released a record with sales exceeding1000000 worldwide. Subsequent awards include platinum records from Norway and South Korea, gold records from Ireland, Hong Kong, South Korea and New Zealand, and two years (10/week) of the US Billboard New Age chart.
Although this record has never been technically classified as an "international release", the success of the Secret Garden has been developed through the local enthusiasm and devotion of employees of Polaroid and Philips Classic Records (later Universal Records). No one was ordered to take part in this project. They are driven by their passion for music and regard it as a challenge to promote secret gardens in their own territory.
Fionnuala had an accident during the promotion and tour of her first album, which almost ended her career. She broke her shoulder in two places after falling down the stairs. After two surgeries, endless physical therapy and a specially constructed metal bracket, she was able to play again. At the same time, driven by the success of The Secret Garden's songs, Rolf's creativity is writing songs and recording for their next CD, White Stone. When Fionnuala recorded her violin part for White Stones in 1996 1 1 month, her arm was still in unbearable pain. The new play is more technically challenging, and they didn't use her injury as an excuse. He hopes to behave better than before. It seems that she has achieved her goal, just as Rolf tried to keep the same creative spirit, use the same seeds and harvest new crops.
"White Stone" has been welcomed by the public in the secret garden, and its enthusiasm is no less than that of the songs in The Secret Garden, and its sales are similar. It achieved another billboard ranking that stayed for two years at the longest. Artists describe alb um as a continuation of the ideas and conceptual ideas developed in their first album. It is also a performance album, and its works are designed to be more suitable for live concert programs. This also led to the formation of touring ensembles and the beginning of live concerts around the world.
1998, they received an unusual letter from barbra streisand asking them to sing the song "Heartstrings" for their wedding. Ann Hampton Callaway wrote the lyrics for this instrumental work, and barbra streisand performed it as part of her wedding speech with james brolin. She later recorded this song and released it as her first single "Love Like Us" in al bum. At her Millennium live concert in Las Vegas, she released her second album, which was included in the album Streisand in 2002. She kindly issued a press statement saying, "I hope the American people can find the wonderful music in the secret garden."
1999 The Secret Garden began to produce their third album Dawn of the New Century. While recording, they also produced a live concert for PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) in the United States. The two-hour performance was recorded in Lillehammer, central Norway, and broadcast in the United States and several other continents. The program has also been edited into videos and DVDs.
Dawn of the New Century includes three vocal tracks, two of which are sung by Fei Aunula, and the other is Prayer by Scottish singer Karen Ma Xisen. It also includes the epic finale "Dawn of the New Century", sung by the Irish choir Anna Nauna. This piece was played at the 2000 Nobel Peace Prize concert and played all over the world. This album is once again on the billboard charts. After the first two albums, Secret Garden has once again toured Asia, Europe, South America and the United States, which is the busiest time in their careers. One of the activities is 40 concert tours in the United States in the autumn of 65438 +0999. Other performances include three concerts with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra at the Queen Elizabeth Concert Hall and the Millennium Concert with the kristiansand Symphony Orchestra.
In 2000, the album Dreamcatcher was edited for the British market. It contains materials from the first three albums, plus a special recording of the Christmas carol "I know a rose tree". Although it is only intended to be released in Britain, it can be bought in the United States, Canada, Ireland and some Asian regions.
During the same period, all the albums were released in the form of printed music, adapted for violin and piano. The complete sheet music can be found on this website. So are videos and DVDs and all records.
Secret Garden's latest album "Once in a blue moon" was created and recorded during 200 1. It includes the hit song "You Raise Me Up" written by Brendan Graham and sung by Brian Kennedy, and the duet "Duo" with British cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. This album topped the charts in Norway and Ireland, and also topped the Billboard charts in the United States. "You inspired me" was included in the playlist and became one of the most popular songs on BBC Radio 2. This music was also used in the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, and even as part of the one-year commemoration of the 9 1 1 event in new york.
Rolf was born in kristiansand, southern Norway. His first contact with composition was at the age of nine, when he formed his first band. Since then, music has become the constant companion and focus of his life throughout his youth. Later, he studied music at the Conservatory of Music in kristiansand and obtained a master's degree in music from the Norwegian Conservatory of Music.
When he showed his "secret garden" to the world, Rolf had won the Grammy Award in Norway and the reputation as the most successful pop songwriter in Norway, with more than 60 national pop songs. His songs won the "Best Song of the Year Award" in the national radio charts for two consecutive years.
Rolf also won the finals of the International Eurovision Song Contest twice-1985 and 1995. He is also a four-time champion in the finals of the Norwegian National European Singing Contest.
