Since being admitted to Shenzhen People’s Hospital on April 22, 2005, Cong Fei has been fighting poorly differentiated gastric cancer for a year. In order to fully treat Cong Fei, the hospital set up a special medical team and invited top domestic oncology experts to consult with Cong Fei many times. Multidisciplinary treatment, mainly chemotherapy, achieved a relatively ideal curative effect on Cong Fei's condition.
Since February 2006, Cong Fei's condition has worsened, and cancer cells have spread widely in the abdominal cavity. By mid-March, Cong Fei could no longer eat or even drink, and could only rely on infusions every day to maintain his life. .
Cong Fei calmly arranged his funeral arrangements. He and his father solemnly proposed to the hospital to stop intravenous rehydration treatment and only retain analgesic treatment. Cong Fei said: "The country and society have given me very good care, and the medical staff have done their best. I don't want the country and society to spend more money on me, and I hope that these expenses can be used on other projects with therapeutic value." "At the same time, he also proposed to donate his corneas after his death so that his useful organs can help people in need.
After Cong Fei passed away, five people received corneas donated by Cong Fei and saw the light of day. The Shenzhen Youth Foundation established the "Cong Fei Educational Aid Special Fund" last year, which not only allows poor students supported by Cong Fei to complete their studies, but also allows more out-of-school children to enter school.
