Blue Swede was first formed in 1973 when top Swedish singer Bj?rn Skifs was looking for a band to accompany him during a concert. [3] The band's original name was "Bl?blus" (Swedish for "blue shirt" or "blue jeans", a pun on "Blue Army" [4]?) and featured Skifs singing the lead vocals.

The band had their international breakthrough in 1974 with their cover of the 1968 BJ Thomas song "Getting Into the Feelings." In 1973, Blue Swedes recorded Thomas' song, but based it on a 1971 song released by British pop eccentric Jonathan King.

The track also topped the charts in Australia, Canada and the Netherlands, where it peaked at number 26. [3] To capitalize on the song's success, Blue Sweden released an album of the same name that same year.
