I. Biography of Mei Lanfang

Mei Lanfang was born in Peiping in 1894. He became a master of Peking Opera in his later years because he was born in a family of Peking Opera. When he was only ten years old, he made his debut in Beijing Guanghe Building, founded Xi Lianban in 198, and performed in Shanghai for the first time in his life in 1913. It can be seen that the master of Peking Opera has high attainments and handsome makeup. Later, Mei Lanfang absorbed many improved ingredients such as Shanghai civilized opera, new stage, lighting and makeup effect, and appearance, and returned to Beijing to perform for the first time in the new play "The Waves of the Dead Sea". He came to Shanghai the next year and performed many good plays. After returning to Beijing 34 days later, he began to make up new plays non-stop, creating the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon, Dai Yu buried flowers and so on.

Second, the origin of Mei Lanfang's stage name

Mei Lanfang, a well-known Peking Opera master, was born in a Peking Opera family. His grandfather was a famous actress in the late Qing Dynasty. Although his uncle was not very good at singing opera, he also had a deep connection with Peking Opera and was a world-famous Huqin performer. He began to learn to sing opera when he was eight years old. His master was a famous actor at that time. Zhu Suyun's brother Zhu Xiaoxia took the stage when he was only 11 years old. After years of research and practice, he achieved a unique performance mode of Peking Opera, which was called Mei School by later generations and became the first of the four famous talents. But he didn't get the stage name Mei Lanfang until he was 16. At that time, Niu Zihou, an enlightened gentleman, was walking in Beishan, Jilin Province. While chatting with friends, he was suddenly attracted by a man practicing sword in a small forest. This lithe and agile man was the young Mei Lanfang. Niu Zihou was very optimistic about this young man and praised him. When asked about his stage name, he immediately named it Mei Lanfang. From then on, he began to spread Chinese Peking Opera culture with the stage name Mei Lanfang.
