Anbo wrote and arranged "Supporting the Army Flower Drum" based on the northern Shaanxi folk song "Dahuangyang Diao"
As early as January 1940, Mao Zedong attended the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Agricultural Exhibition It said: The Eighth Route Army is also a common people, and the army must not forget its roots, which are workers and peasants; the common people are the masters, and we need cooperation between the military and the people; if everyone unites, the Japanese invaders will be defeated. On August 5, 1940, the General Political Department of the Eighth Route Army issued the "Instructions on Strictly Improving Discipline and Improving Relations between the Military and the Government". Starting from the end of 1942, our army in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region took the lead in carrying out a movement to support the government and love the people. On January 15, 1943, the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Government announced the "Decision to Support the Army", the "Convention to Support the Army" and the "Work Instructions for Launching the Month to Support the Army". On January 25, the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army Remaining Regiment issued the "Decision on Supporting the Government and Loving the People" and the "Work Instruction on the Movement Month of Supporting the Government and Loving the People", and decided to designate February 5th to March 4th as the Movement Month of Supporting the Government and Loving the People in the Border Region. As a result, a movement of "the army loves the people and the people support the army" flourished in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region. In October 1943, the Central Committee decided that a large-scale mass movement to support the government and the army would be held every year in the first lunar month. Since then, "double support" has become a glorious tradition of our army.
A large number of songs emerged in this movement to support the government and love the people. Among them, the most influential and famous one is "Supporting the Army Flower Drum" written and composed by Anbo based on the folk song "Dahuangyang Diao" in northern Shaanxi. .
Huagu is a common form of singing and dancing music among Chinese folk, with different patterns and styles. Flower drums in northern Shaanxi are more famous. They are often played by two men and women, one holding a gong and the other carrying a drum, singing and dancing, often accompanied by gongs and drums, and sometimes suona. "Supporting the Army Flower Drum" is a duet between male and female voices, maintaining the performance form of northern Shaanxi flower drum.
