In September 1948, Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle School (Hebei Experimental Middle School) was established. It is the first batch of key middle schools in Hebei Province and a window school open to the outside world in Hebei Province.

In 1953, Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle School and West Campus (Shijiazhuang No. 5 Middle School) was established. It was a senior high school restructured on the basis of the original Shijiazhuang Railway No. 1 Middle School. It is a model high school in Hebei Province.

On April 14, 1978, the Provincial Revolutionary Committee approved Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle School as a provincial key school and an experimental school of the Institute of Educational Science, shouldering the scientific research and experimental tasks of basic education in Hebei Province.

In 1979, the school carried out experiments in reforming teaching materials and teaching methods across the province.

Since 1983, campus renovation and construction have been gradually carried out. From 1989 to 1998, No. 2 Middle School implemented the internal management system reform and implemented the "four systems", namely the principal responsibility system, full appointment system, job responsibility system, and structured salary system.

In 2000, the Hebei Provincial Education Commission approved Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle School as the Hebei Provincial Experimental Middle School.

In 2002, the Municipal Education Bureau approved the establishment of the province’s first education group, Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle School Education Group.

On September 1, 2003, the Municipal Development Planning Commission officially approved the project.

On May 24, 2004, the Hebei Provincial Department of Education approved the newly built Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle School branch to "operate according to the private school mechanism." In 2004, the construction of Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle South Campus started with an investment of 300 million yuan, covering an area of ??more than 600 acres, with a construction area of ??185,178 square meters and a green area of ??62,787 square meters.

In July 2004, Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle and Western Campus was separated from the railway enterprise and successfully belonged to the Municipal Education Bureau, becoming a school directly under the jurisdiction of Shijiazhuang City.

In December 2004, the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle School Education Association was established.

In 2005, the South Campus was completed and put into use.

In August 2013, Shijiazhuang No. 5 Middle School was merged into Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle School Education Group and became Shijiazhuang No. 2 Middle and West Campus, forming a new leadership team of the school.
