Brief introduction of Kashgar
Kashgar, which belongs to Kashgar region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the southwest edge of Xinjiang, the west of Tarim Basin, the east of Taklimakan Desert, the south of Karakorum Mountain and Ali region in Tibet, and the west of Pamir Plateau. It is the westernmost border city of China, and also the residence of the administrative office in Kashgar. Kashgar covers an area of 65 1 km2, with a population of 4 1.5 1.3 million (20 12), and governs 6 streets, 2 towns and 9 townships. Kashgar has a long history, with a recorded history of over 265,438+000 years. Kashgar is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of southern Xinjiang and the largest distribution center for agricultural and livestock products. It is also an important commercial port on the ancient Silk Road, the throat hub of traffic between East and West, and an important meeting point of economy, culture and civilization between East and West.
