It depends. You don't have to sit together and ask questions. Some people may sit together and chat more congenially, so they often sit together and chat. This is nothing, of course, it does not rule out that there may be some other activities. So if you want to know if they have any problems, it is not whether they are together, but what they said at the party and whether some of their little moves are ambiguous.
