In De'anli, Puning, Guangdong, the century-old buildings are filled with "antiques" and can be called the Chaoshan Residential Museum

In Guangdong, the Chaoshan area is an urban agglomeration with a long history, rich culture and profound heritage. It includes Shantou, Chaozhou, Jieyang and other important cities in eastern Guangdong, and has its own unique system of language, culture and food. , with its colorful humanistic customs and folk culture, and containing many little-known historical relics and time stories, it is a tourist destination worth exploring in detail.

In the west of the Chaoshan Plain in the south-eastern part of Guangdong, there is a cultural hometown known as the "Pearl of Chaoshan". It has given birth to many celebrities in history, and today it also retains many cultural heritage passed down from generation to generation. It is famous for its folk art and traditional culture that combines landscapes with folk customs and humanities. It has also been selected into the top 200 "Charming Cities with Chinese Characteristics". This is Puning City under the jurisdiction of Jieyang, Guangdong.

As an emerging city in the economic development of my country's southeastern coast, Puning has also made remarkable achievements in industrial development in recent years. It is not only the largest shirt production base in China and the largest Chinese herbal medicine sales base in South China, but also It is the largest distribution center for clothing, tobacco, tea, fruits, and textiles in eastern Guangdong. It is also a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in my country. I have traveled to many places in Guangdong, and Jieyang Puning is one of the places I have never been to but really want to go.

This time I finally came to Puning as I wished and found a very interesting place that is highly recommended. This is De'anli, located in Nancun, Hongyang Town, the ancient city of Puning. This little-known ancient village was a family residence built by Fang Yao, the admiral of the Guangdong Navy and the famous general Fang Yao, and his brothers in the late Qing Dynasty. It is also the largest and best-preserved existing village in Chaoshan. A complete complex of large mansion-style residential buildings.

De'anli has a long history. It was first built in the 10th year of Tongzhi (AD 1871) and has a history of 150 years. Because it is a family residence, the entire building complex took 20 years to complete. Its large scale, exquisite construction and exquisite shape can be called a wonderful work of residential architectural art in southern my country. Even after 150 years of ups and downs, it is still impressive today. Extraordinary and full of flavor.

I have always been interested in ancient architecture. I knew nothing about De'Anli before, but it gave me endless surprises. Because this ancient building complex still retains its old appearance intact. Not only does the appearance look simple, natural and authentic, but even the layout and furnishings inside have basically remained unchanged. It is very old and tasteful, and every detail is worth savoring. Learn.

De'anli has very profound attainments in architectural art. With his rare architectural layout and unique design style, he was selected into the civil architecture textbook of the Department of Architecture of Guangdong South China University of Technology. At the same time, the architectural forms here are rich and diverse and well-preserved. Rare architectural forms such as bungalows, four-point gold, five halls, Xiashan tigers, and one-legged lions can be seen here, and are therefore regarded as "Chaoshan residential buildings." "Complete Collection of Forms" can be called a museum of Lingnan architectural and decorative arts.

The De'anli building complex covers a total area of ??nearly 60,000 square meters, with a construction area of ??32,000 square meters. It is divided into Laozhai, Zhongzhai, Xinde'anli, Shaoyuan and other areas. Among them, the architectural layout of Laozhai is "a hundred birds facing the phoenix", and Zhongzhai and Xinde'anli are "four-horse trailers". The three villages are connected, with as many as 773 houses, and are protected by rivers outside. It is a rare large-scale building in Guangdong and even the whole country. A group of mansion-style buildings.

The Laozhai in De'anli can be regarded as an architectural model among the many amazing traditional Chaoshan houses. The most commendable thing about it is the extremely rare "hundred birds paying homage to the phoenix" architectural pattern, in which "huang" is the main ancestral hall, with small ancestral halls on the left and right, and the rear are "Wujianguo", "Daxiashanhu", "Four Points of Gold" "And other buildings protect the ancestral hall from three sides.

The layout of the rooms in the village is divided into official halls, ancestral halls, Buddhist halls, studies, restaurants, warehouses, attics, etc. The solid walls of the village and the thick layers of roof tiles reflect the owner's prominent family background and family glory. Obviously, the architectural structure with the large ancestral hall as the core is also closely in line with the traditional Chinese etiquette of Chaoshan people that "the ancestral hall must be the first to build a palace and clarify the clan system".

The registered population of De'anli is 500, and there are still more than 100 people living there, mainly concentrated in Laozhai and Zhongzhai. However, many of the houses have long since been deserted. Walking on the bluestone road that was built more than a hundred years ago, you will feel mixed emotions. The smooth slate tiles on the ground and the empty birdcages under the eaves seem to tell the story of the prominence and the past life. The magnificent architectural style and ubiquitous historical imprints here are shocking and touching.

Long streets, deep alleys, vermilion doors, and solid walls, walking in De'anli makes you feel like you are going back in time to the Qing Dynasty. Facing the halls, pavilions, wooden pillars on the eaves, and the exquisite gold-lacquered carved doors and windows, a thousand years have passed in a blink of an eye. An ancient well and an ancient tree bear witness to the passage of time and vicissitudes of change, making people stop for a long time and forget to leave.

It is particularly worth mentioning that on the gate of the main ancestral hall of the old village, there are two famous patron saints: Qin Shubao and Yuchi Gong. Such paintings of door gods are folk arts and crafts inherited from the Chaoshan area, using traditional The traditional lacquer painting technique uses natural lacquer as the main material for painting creation. Nowadays, this craft is gradually being lost, but it is still well preserved in De'anli.

However, De'Anli is a bit desolate due to lack of popularity, and some corners are overgrown with grass. Fortunately, in recent years, De'anli has been vigorously restored and has been rated as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province. It was selected into the first batch of "27 Ancient Villages in Guangdong Province". In 2010, it was also rated as a national 3A tourist attraction. Therefore, It also attracts foreign tourists to the old village.
