A lesson in reading

Rickshaw boy

This novel takes the life of Beijing citizens in the late 1920s as the background, and takes the bumpy and tragic life experience of rickshaw driver Xiangzi as the main plot, which profoundly exposes the darkness of old China and accuses the ruling class of its deep sympathy for the working people. Xiaohe composition network can also contribute.

It shows a true picture of old China, full of life, with distinctive national style and local characteristics. Xiangzi, who is competitive, wants to be a "free foreign driver": Xiangzi was a young driver in the 1930s in old Beijing. He looks average, is big, runs fast and is not afraid of hardship. He has an ideal career-pulling carts. He has a goal to pursue-buying a car. After three years of hard work, I finally got a new car of my own. It was War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's time. Beiping was in chaos, and Xiangzi was taken by soldiers to do odd jobs. The car-a part of his life-was taken away. One day, the soldiers in the barracks were frightened by the gunfire. They decided to act quickly. Xiangzi took advantage of the chaos to take some camels from the barracks and ran away. He sold camels, collected more than 30 pieces of ocean, and went back to Renhe Factory to pull a cart. Tigress, the daughter of Si Liu, the factory owner, is in her thirties. She hasn't found her husband's family yet, just because she is too aggressive. Tigress took a fancy to Xiangzi and seduced him. Xiangzi was planted in her arms, and Xiangzi regretted it and prepared to make a clean break. But Tigress tricked Xiangzi into "having it", and Xiangzi couldn't get rid of her and finally married her. Tigress died in childbirth, so did Joy, whom Xiangzi loved, and Xiangzi had no money. From then on, Xiangzi hated anyone. He got into the bad habit of eating, drinking, whoring and gambling. If you are not diligent in pulling a cart, don't pull it at all. He began to cheat money, borrowed money without paying it back, and even betrayed others for money. Xiangzi completely degenerated into a walking corpse.

I seem to see the overpass, the Drum Tower and the White Pagoda, which are archways, streets, car factories, painting academies and bustling crowds. This is old Beijing decades ago, but there is no idyllic happiness here, but Xiangzi's big feet keep running across the streets and alleys. Under the scorching sun, there are his difficult figures everywhere in the rain and snow. The whip of soldiers and bandits, Mr. Yang's exploitation, his scolding, the robbery of Detective Sun, and the indifference of foreign doctors, this is a real hell! Finally, Tigress died tragically, Joy hanged herself, the old horse's head fell to death in the street, and Xiangzi finally fell down and disappeared into a city gate hole ... This was the life of the working people at the bottom of Beijing in the 1920s. This vivid description made me realize the insurmountable tragic fate of rickshaw pullers, and let me deeply understand what it was like.

Xiangzi's tragedy is the product of his social life environment. By describing the characters and interpersonal relationships around Xiangzi, the novel truly shows the life of that dark society, the ugly faces of warlords, spies and car factory owners, and the distorted reflection of the oppression and oppressed relationship of Xiangzi by their ruling network.

In this book, the person who impressed me the most was Tigress. At that time, such women were rare. Her image is the most vivid. She is a "bitch". She scolds anyone who has offended her. Her rampaging tone, pouting, and half-smiling and half-smug tone when talking to Xiangzi are so vivid in the book. If it weren't for her age, I would have thought she was a girl of eighteen or nineteen who was not sensible. But recalling the scam she came up with, the play she played, and the words she talked back to her father, I feel sophisticated again.

The language of the whole novel is vivid, the writing is vigorous and beneficial, and the characters with distinct personalities are portrayed. It is a masterpiece of Mr. Lao She. The novel is full of sadness, and the story is bizarre and touching. Through it, we can at least know that the society is so dark and the hope is so slim, because it happened in China not long ago, when the rooster was dying!

Learning from reading II

Reading the article Gorky's Childhood today, I was infected by Gorky's attitude of forgetting everything and concentrating on reading.

When I read word by word carefully, it seems that I am reading with Gorky. He was so absorbed in reading that he forgot everything in the world. After reading this, I can't help but think of my previous reading. Whenever my parents buy me new books or borrow books by themselves, I feel like a duck to water and can't wait to read them. Although I like reading, I get little benefit from it. Why? Gorky read hungrily and forgot everything. Compared with himself, I just watch the excitement, pay attention to some main storylines, and never write reading notes. I have never understood the connotation of the article; I haven't paid attention to other people's works and good ways to write articles. Because I read a lot of books, and all of them are skimmed and swallowed, and I forget after reading them, which is very beneficial. I think Gorky can become a world writer because of his thirst for knowledge and persistence in reading. At the same time, Gorky's attitude of studying hard taught me to have a serious attitude in everything.

Carelessness is the root of failure, and seriousness is the secret of success. I have a deep understanding. I remember that I failed in the mid-term math exam this semester because of carelessness. I didn't deduct one point for the difficult question, and I deducted two points for the simple fill-in-the-blank question, because it was the root number 5 on the draft paper, and because it was wrongly written as the root number 3. Isn't that why I don't want to? Alas, carelessness has made me fail many times. I wonder, is my shadow always with me? But today, I saw Gorky forget everything when he was studying, and the only way to get rid of that heavy heart is to make friends with me seriously. Yes, I finally realized that carelessness is not mine, nor has it always been mine. Now, only by getting rid of it and giving it up can we succeed. We should take everything seriously.

Today, after carefully reading Gorky's Childhood, I firmly believe that "carelessness is the root of failure and seriousness is the secret of success".
