Do the humble inscriptions and Huxin Pavilion agree with their noble practice of making friends and treating others? Why?
I don't agree with them. They pay attention to the friendship between gentlemen as light as water, and the communication between friends is not utilitarian. This is good, but it is too lofty just because it is influenced by Neo-Confucianism in Song and Ming Dynasties or earlier ancient Confucianism. Of course, it used to be the benchmark of noble character, but now it is not applicable, because true friendship has no distinction between elegance and vulgarity. Isn't Zhuangzi a philosopher, too? Aren't Wang Wei and Li Bai also brilliant painters and poets? People with lower status have never been lofty. Personally, I think lofty is just a banner for traditional Confucian scholars to show their noble character, which means I hate this kind of people to flaunt themselves by despising others.
