Is young people's reluctance to choose a spouse the main reason why young people are single?
On February1,the Central Network Film and Television Center of the Communist Youth League and the Marriage and Love Service Committee of the Voice of Youth jointly released the Survey Report on Contemporary Youth Groups' Views on Marriage and Love (hereinafter referred to as the Report). According to the report, what contemporary young people value most is "health" and "ability", and nearly 70% of them "would rather wait than settle down". Small social circle, busy work and lack of initiative are the three main reasons why young people are single.

According to the principle of scientific sampling, the report distributed questionnaires to teenagers in different regions and fields through organizations at all levels, and finally obtained 3082 valid questionnaires. The report analyzes the youth's views on marriage and love from six aspects: their views on spouse selection, love, marriage, fertility, ethics of marriage and love, and their views on youth marriage and love service activities organized by the Communist Youth League. The survey found that "health" and "ability" are the aspects that both men and women pay more attention to. It is worth noting that young men and women generally pay little attention to each other's education, region, family background and income. Compared with the traditional concept of "matching each other", contemporary youth's mate selection is more diversified and pays more attention to "internal matching".

According to the report, the "urging marriage" of family members is the biggest source of stress for young people in their single life. 50% of young people said that the biggest pressure during their single life came from "family urging marriage", followed by "public opinion" and the third was "self-pressure". If the ideal marriage partner has not been found, 70% of young people choose to "wait and find the ideal person before getting married". Among them, more young women choose to "continue to wait" than young men.

In terms of youth's love view, more than 70% of young men will actively pursue love, while only 30% of young women will actively pursue love. On the other hand, in terms of young people's views on marriage, young men's recognition of marriage is higher than that of young women, and half of young men say that marriage is "very safe". According to the survey, 68% of young men think that life is complete when they get married, while 49% of young women choose this option. Among them, 36% of young women think that "being single is also very happy", and the proportion holding this view is twice that of young men.

In terms of youth's concept of fertility, the traditional concept of fertility of contemporary youth still occupies the mainstream position, and the "two-child" policy is very popular among young people. According to this survey, most young people think that the "traditional family" where husband and wife live together and have children is the "most anticipated family model", and only 6% young people choose the "Dink family". It can be seen that China's traditional concept of fertility is still supported by young people. Under the background of the comprehensive "two-child" policy, nearly 60% of young people expressed their wish to have two children. In addition, 59% of young people said they want children within two years after marriage.

The survey shows that young people have low recognition of online dating, dating websites and dating apps. 73% of young people choose to make friends through "social gatherings organized by units, youth league organizations or social organizations", 1 1% of young people choose "social App", 6% of young people choose "dating websites" and 2% of young people choose "TV dating programs". The survey found that the marriage and love activities organized by the Communist Youth League were highly recognized by young people. In this survey, 75% of the youth expressed their support and recognition for the networking activities organized by the Communist Youth League. The offline dating activities organized by the Youth League have a high reputation among youth groups.

The report puts forward specific policy suggestions to serve the needs of young people in marriage and love, such as developing multi-theme youth social activities to relieve the psychological pressure of single young people and help them establish a correct view of marriage and love; Strengthen the popularization education of sexual knowledge for teenagers and help them establish a scientific and healthy gender view; Improve the integrity of online marriage service and create a healthy and good online marriage environment.
