Nan'an is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province and is managed by Quanzhou City. It does not belong to a county.

Nan'an City is located on the southeast coast of Fujian Province, across the sea from Taiwan Island. It is the starting point of the world-famous "Maritime Silk Road" and the hometown of national hero Zheng Chenggong. The county was established in Soochow during the Three Kingdoms period, which has a history of more than 1,700 years. In 1993, with the approval of the State Council, the county was removed and a city was established.
