Confucius’ three methods of knowing people

Confucius’s three methods of knowing people are: observing their words and deeds, observing their friendships, and considering their reasons.

1. Observe his words and deeds:

Confucius believed that a person’s words and deeds can reflect his character and cultivation. Therefore, observing a person's words and deeds is one of the important ways to identify his character and abilities.

2. Check one’s friends:

Confucius believed that a person’s friends can reflect his character and ability. Therefore, looking at a person's circle of friends is also a way to identify his character and abilities.

3. Look at the reason:

Look at it, just look at it. It refers to the person whose character you want to understand and observe. To, to do. So, that's what it is. What this sentence says is: depending on whether he does good or evil, the judgment will be made between a gentleman and a villain. This sentence means: To understand a person, the first step is to look at what he does, and the people he makes friends with will be the first step to see his good and evil.

However, sometimes what we see may be appearances and illusions. Therefore, the Master added the second and third steps to the method of knowing people. That is to say, we must not only know what it is, but also why it is so. You also need to be able to discern the motivations and intentions of your actions.

The ideological system of morality and Tao is based on the theory of good nature ("one yin and one yang are called Tao, and what follows is good, and what is completed is nature").

With the purpose of establishing the human pole ("the way of the three poles"), the human way, the heaven way, and the earth way are connected, and the moderation of the human way becomes a complete ideological system of methodology in due course.
