In the process of German university admission, the language requirements are relatively low, and they are only satisfied with a piece of paper proof and a few simple questions during the interview. When you hold the university admission notice (please note: the German university admission notice is totally different from China's. The university admission notice in Germany should be more accurately called the university registration certificate, and you must pass the language test to register.) When you come to Germany with great joy to prepare for your great future, you find that the language you have mastered is not competent for your studies at all, even for your daily life.
What's more, the college language test is still waiting for you (because German universities rarely offer bilingual teaching in English and German). According to the relevant regulations of Germany, if you fail to pass the college language test within two years, you will be repatriated. For this reason, you have to bury yourself in German. Usually, the number of language classes in universities is limited, and it is expensive to go to private language schools.
For this reason, the author suggests that domestic students who are interested in studying in Germany should not rush to go abroad, but must lay a solid foundation in German at home and pass the German proficiency test before going abroad, so that on the one hand, they can have a relaxed learning environment in Germany, on the other hand, they can quickly adapt to a completely unfamiliar learning environment.
Second, loneliness
Studying in a foreign country in Germany has to bear the pressure of academic life, which often makes people feel lonely. If you have just arrived in Germany, you should be mentally prepared for a transitional period. It is not Germany that is lonely, but German students. To study in Germany and survive here, you must shed an impetuous heart. Some people climb mountains and wading, some study and practice calligraphy, and some directly believe in religion ... The reason is two basic conditions: First, China people who come to Germany to study mainly in engineering, and because Germany is free of tuition, most of the people who come to Germany to study are middle-class or working-class families in China, so the international students here are living on a tight budget, and most of them have working experience. It is not difficult to make friends with Germans in theory, but you must accept their three views of living alone in another world, accept their leisure and entertainment methods, and understand their basic culture. It's just, are you sure you like to have a drink and jump around all night until two or three in the morning? When you go to a choir or a concert, can you hear the miles inside? Are you sure your family can also agree with the family view that college students can go straight to the age of 3, regardless of their parents, go wherever they like when they are financially independent, and have grandchildren for several months without seeing their grandparents? If you accept it, you can't come back. Unless you want to stay in Germany all your life, do a good job in this cultural baptism and thoroughly remould yourself.
Third, the study time is long
The German study abroad network points out that the academic system of German universities has its own characteristics: the study time is not limited, as long as you complete the necessary credits, whether it takes you five years or ten years, you can graduate. For a person who is not conscious of learning, it is easy to develop inertia objectively.
On the other hand, the complexity of the German academic system makes it very long. In Germany, university education is divided into two stages, namely the basic stage and the professional stage. The basic stage is usually two years. If you want to learn a language in Germany, it may take three to four years. After entering the professional stage, in addition to studying professional subjects, students began to learn to write small professional papers, and after completing several small papers, they began to write graduation papers.
at last, you need to go through a big exam, and take the knowledge from beginning to end. Generally speaking, the oral and written exams are about 2-3, and 4-5 exams are taken together in one exam, which takes four or five hours. For example, the examination paper of enterprise management includes statistics, cost, financing and investment, tax auditing, accounting and so on. The final exam can only be retaken once. If you fail the retake exam again, you will be declared to be out of school. This forces students to postpone their schedule of taking the exam for one to two years to be on the safe side. Therefore, few people can finish their studies and get a master's degree within four years, let alone foreigners with language proficiency.
Although China people are famous for their intelligence and hard work, it is difficult to learn skillfully in Germany. Generally, it takes five years or more to successfully complete their studies and get a degree. This is undoubtedly far behind compared with the fact that Britain and the United States can get a degree in one or two years. If you count the opportunity cost, the loss will be even greater. However, the length of the German academic system is not without merit. At least one thing is recognized by the world: although there are no universities in Germany, the gold content of its university diploma is extremely high.
