Ivory Coast was once the largest ivory trading center in Africa and the largest economy in the West African Economic and Monetary Union, and was once called the "Pearl of West Africa".

China and C? te d 'Ivoire established diplomatic relations on 1983. Over the past 30 years, with the concern of the leaders of both sides and the active promotion of the two governments, China-Kuwait friendly relations have developed steadily and healthily, and mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation has been expanding. Agreements on cooperation in agriculture, trade, science and technology, higher education and culture were signed, as well as a framework agreement on preferential government loans and a memorandum of understanding on forestry cooperation between China and Kuwait.
