Hello, the advantage of being an English major as a Chinese teacher for foreigners lies in the learning content. Compared with us learning English, foreigners usually learn Chinese very purposefully. They know what kind of Chinese they want to learn and for what occasion. Unless foreigners have no foundation at all in learning Chinese, they will follow the teaching materials prepared by the Chinese teacher. In most cases, they will not follow the same teaching materials and learn every word from beginning to end.

For example, when a foreigner who has just arrived in China learns Chinese, the first aspect he wants to learn most is shopping and Chinese for buying things; and then there are the Chinese that are closely related to life, such as taking a taxi. Chinese when asking for directions, Chinese when eating in restaurants. If they want a full set of systematic Chinese teaching, they will go directly to the Normal University to enroll in Chinese courses.

So when an English major serves as a Chinese teacher for foreigners, the best thing is to know and understand what the foreigners want to learn and what to teach. No matter in terms of communication or translation, they must be more authentic than non-English major Chinese teachers.

Then, domestic English majors need to learn the history, culture, literature, humanities and other information of European and American countries during their college years, and also need to read a large amount of foreign language literature. The background and habits of foreigners are better than those of non-English students. English majors know better. When expressing Chinese culture, distinguishing Chinese culture, and spreading Chinese culture, it is easier to compare with Western culture, and it is also more authentic.
