Yumen is the cradle of my country's petroleum industry and the hometown of "Iron Man" Wang Jinxi. The petroleum industry has a history of 65 years of development. The city was established in 1955, and the country's first petroleum industry base was built in 1957. In order to serve the development of oil fields, the original Yumen County moved from Yumen Town (now Yumen New Urban District) to the old urban area in 1958, and merged with Yumen Petroleum The administrative bureau was merged into a prefecture-level city. In 1961, the municipal bureau was separated and Yumen City was changed to a county-level organization. Historical History
From the Shang Dynasty to the Warring States Period, it was the land of the Western Qiang, and from the Qin Dynasty to the early Han Dynasty, it was the land of the Yueshi, Wusun and Xiongnu. In the second year of Han Yuanshou (121 BC), Yumen County was established and placed under the jurisdiction of Jiuquan County. Kuaiji County was established in Xiliang, and Yumen County was established in the Northern Wei Dynasty. There were many changes later, and Yumen County was reestablished in the 24th year of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1759). On September 25, 1949, the Chinese People's Liberation Army peacefully liberated the Yumen Oil Mine and liberated Yumen County the next day. Yumen City (a provincial municipality) was established in December 1955. In 1958, the county and city were combined into prefecture-level cities, and in 1961 they were changed to county-level cities, under the jurisdiction of the Jiuquan District Administration. After Jiuquan was evacuated and established as a city in 2002, Yumen was managed by Jiuquan City.
On April 4, 2003, the Ministry of Civil Affairs approved (Minhan [2003] No. 63) to move the Yumen City People’s Residency from Jiefang Road (Nanping Street) to Yumen Town.

It is located at the northeastern end of Yumen City, adjacent to Huahai Town in the east and north, and connected to the Gansu Mining Area in the west. It has resettled 1,390 households and 6,301 immigrants from Min County. people.
