Sam Member Store is a high-end membership store owned by Wal-Mart, a Fortune 500 company. Its name is taken from Mr. sam walton, the legend of the retail industry and the founder of Wal-Mart. Sam has a history of more than 30 years since its first store opened in April in the Midwest of Oklahoma 1983. In the early 1990s, Sam began to enter the international market. Up to now, Sam has more than 800 stores around the world, becoming one of the largest membership stores in the world, providing quality shopping experience for more than 50 million individuals and corporate members. In China, the first Sam member store was established in August 1996.
By July 2020, Sam has opened 28 stores in China, which are located in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Shenyang, Dalian, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanchang, Wuhan, Changzhou, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Nanjing, Changsha, Nantong and Kunshan. Sam member stores have a complex and huge supplier selection system. All goods are purchased by the "Sam Member Store" departments of Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Co., Ltd., which are distributed all over the world. Taking "high quality and good price" as the goal, the purchasing department is responsible for reducing prices, selecting goods and recommending suppliers, and the factory inspection department (ethical standards) is responsible for supplier qualification certification and quality assurance department.
