Looking at Lushan Waterfall

Tang Li Bai

The incense burner in Rizhao is full of purple smoke, and the waterfall hangs in Qianchuan from a distance.

It's flying down three thousands of feet, and it's suspected that the Milky Way has set for nine days.

Introduction to Wang Lushan Waterfall

Two Waterfalls at Wang Lushan are two poems written by Li Bai, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty. One is an ancient poem with five words, and the other is a quatrain with seven words. These two poems are closely related to the word "Wang" in the title, describing the scenery of Lushan Waterfall with the incense burner peak, highlighting the waterfall hanging like a bead curtain with the word "Hang", drawing the waterfall vividly with highly exaggerated artistic techniques, and then describing the specific scene of the waterfall in detail, describing the waterfall that is flowing and flowing in a magnificent and colorful way, just like a vivid landscape painting. Among them, the second seven wonders has always been widely read, and its first two sentences describe the magnificent scene of Lushan Waterfall, which is both hazy and magnificent; The last two sentences use exaggerated metaphors and romantic imagination to further describe the image and momentum of the waterfall, which can be described as the best words.

Looking at Lushan Waterfall

The incense burner peak glowed with purple haze under the sunlight, and from a distance, the waterfall hung like white silk in front of the mountain.

The waterfall soaring on the high cliff seems to have several thousands of feet, which makes people feel trance-like that the Milky Way has fallen from the sky to the earth.

Note:

Lushan Mountain: it is one of the famous mountains in China in the south of Jiujiang, Jiangxi.

Appreciation:

This poem is a quatrain of seven words. The incense burner in this poem, that is, the incense burner peak mentioned at the beginning of the first poem, "in the northwest of Lushan Mountain, its peak is round and the smoke clouds gather and disperse, like the incense burner in Boshan Mountain" (Music History "Taiping Huanji"). However, when it comes to the poet Li Bai's pen, it becomes another scene: an indomitable incense burner, with clouds of white smoke rising slowly in Ran Ran, ethereal between the green mountains and the blue sky, and turned into a purple cloud under the irradiation of the red sun. This not only makes the incense burner peak more beautiful, but also romantic, creating an unusual background for the unusual waterfall.

Then the poet turned his eyes to the waterfall on the mountain wall. "Looking at the waterfall hanging in front of the river", the first four words are the point. "Hanging in front of the river" is the first image of "looking", and the waterfall is like a huge white practice hanging high between mountains and rivers. The word "hanging" is wonderful, it turns from motion to stillness, and vividly shows the image of a pouring waterfall in "looking from a distance"

The third sentence also describes the dynamics of waterfalls. "Flying down three thousands of feet", a stroke, forceful every word. The word "fly" vividly depicts the scene of the waterfall spewing out; "Straight down" not only describes the high and steep mountains, but also shows the urgency of the current. The sky is straight down, and it is overwhelming.

However, the poet was not satisfied enough, and then he wrote a sentence, "Doubt is that the Milky Way has fallen for nine days", which really made him want to fall into the sky and astonish his soul. "Doubt is" is worth pondering. The poet clearly said it in a trance, and the readers know it is not, but they all think that it is only in this way that it is more vivid and realistic. The secret lies in the image that has been bred in the poet's previous description.

The towering incense burner peak is hidden in the clouds and mist. Looking at the waterfall in the distance is like flying down from the clouds and falling in the sky, which is naturally associated with a galaxy falling from the sky. It can be seen that the metaphor "Doubt is the Milky Way setting for nine days" is strange, but it does not come out of thin air in the poem, but naturally comes out of the' depiction' of the image. It is exaggerated and natural, novel and true, thus arousing the whole article, making the whole image more colorful, magnificent and magnificent, which not only left a deep impression on people, but also gave people room for imagination, showing Li Bai's artistic style of "Wan Li falls down, and the potential is still strong at the end".

Wei Qingzhi, a Song Dynasty poet, said, "The fifth word of the seven-character poem should ring. ..... The so-called ringer is committed to the place. " This view seems particularly convincing in this poem. For example, the word "health" not only makes the incense burner peak "alive", but also vaguely shows the sight of smoke rising and floating in the mountains. The word "hanging" has been mentioned before, and the word "falling" is also very wonderful. It vividly depicts the majestic momentum of sudden high altitude and huge flow. It is hard to imagine what this poem would look like if these three words were replaced.
