Dandong City, formerly known as Anton City, is located in the southeast of Liaoning Province, where the Yellow Sea meets the Yalu River. The urban area is separated from Sinuiju City of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea by a river. As an open coastal city featuring electronics, tourism and ports, it is the largest border city in China. The total area of the city is 149 10 square kilometers, of which the urban area is 563 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over two cities (county-level cities), one county and three districts, namely donggang city, Fengcheng, Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County, Zhenxing District, yuanbao district and Zhen 'an District. The total population of the city is 2.4 million, including 697,000 urban residents. In addition to the Han nationality, there are 29 ethnic minorities such as Manchu, Mongolian, Hui and Korean. Among them, Manchu population accounts for 32% of the city's total population. History Dandong has a long history. According to historical records, Dandong belonged to Kanzhou and Yu Shun to Yingzhou in the Tang and Yao Dynasties, which was the eastern frontier of Yan State during the Warring States Period. Dandong belonged to Liaodong County in the Qin Dynasty, which lasted until the Three Kingdoms of Han Dynasty and the Western Jin Dynasty. During the Sixteen Kingdoms Period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Dandong was the former Yan, and the spheres of influence of the former Qin Dynasty and the later Yan belonged to Liaodong County, but the eastern region was divided by Goguryeo. In the fifth year of Yixi in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (A.D. 409), the Dandong area was completely divided by Koguryo. In the first year of Tang Dynasty (AD 608), Liaodong was recovered, and Andong was established as the capital of Hufu. Dandong belongs to Anton Hufu. In the eighth year of Kaiyuan in Tang Dynasty (AD 720), the Bohai State established by Mohe people once used half of Dandong City as Yalu House. In Liao Dynasty, Dandong was the real jurisdiction of mature women. In today's Dandong, Donggang and Fengcheng are located in Yinzhou and Kaizhou respectively, and Yuancheng is located in Jiuliancheng Scenic Resort scenic spot in the suburb of Dandong today. Dandong in Jin Dynasty belongs to the road of breaking Su Fu. In the Yuan Dynasty, Dandong belonged to Su Po Prefecture, and was later changed to the Inspection Department. The western part of Dandong was also under the jurisdiction of Jian 'an County, Gaizhou. Dandong was the governor of Liaodong in Ming Dynasty. In the 16th year of Chenghua in Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1480), Tang Station Fort was built, and Huangcheng was built the following year. In the forty-six years of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, after the famous "Salhu" battle, the late Jin conquered all parts of Liaoning, and Dandong was under the influence of the late Jin. In the late Jin Dynasty, in order to strengthen border control, all residents along the river were moved inward, and the west of today's donggang city Cross Street was taken as the restricted area. In the 13th year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1874), the Qing government announced that "all the eastern regions were banned". In the second year of Guangxu reign (A.D. 1876), the Qing government established Phoenix Hall and Andong County, and in the following year, Kuandian County was established, with Phoenix Hall as its capital, which governed the whole territory. With the development of Yalu River water transport, after Anton set up the county government in 1876, a town with relatively concentrated population was first formed in Shahe area of the current urban area. After the completion of Anfeng (Single) Railway, the scale of the city gradually expanded due to the opening of trading ports, forming a belt pattern. 1937, the puppet Manchukuo began to set up Anton city. At that time, Anton City and Anton County (now donggang city) coexisted, both under the jurisdiction of Anton Province, which was the ruling center of Japanese puppet troops in Liaodong during the fall of Northeast China. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, Dandong was liberated twice. 1945 In September, Dandong was liberated for the first time, and the democratic government of Anton City was established, which belongs to Anton Province, and Dandong is the seat of the provincial democratic government. 1946, 10 months later, most of Anton province was occupied by Kuomintang troops. 1June 947 Dandong was liberated for the second time.
