Although there are lanterns in Buddhism, the significance of this lantern is not for superstition, but to light the lamp and break the darkness. This is more important to remind us to light our hearts, break ignorance and increase our wisdom. This is the form. Offering lanterns has its merits, but it cannot be said that these things can be avoided by lighting them.
Everything has a relative cause and effect. Buddhism is not superstition. You should think carefully about why you were cheated and why you made careless friends. Only by finding the right cause and effect can we solve the problem effectively, instead of lighting a lamp and expecting the problem to be solved without thinking about anything.
