Question 1: How to write a WeChat tweet about Tim Brown, the president of Apple’s early royal design company, a letter to teenagers
Tim Brown is the CEO of the famous design company IDEO, and the early royal design company of Apple. Company, this article encourages everyone to use design thinking to design your life. "Intention" is the essence of design, so designing life is achievable; design thinking will help you design your life to be more satisfying, interesting, creative, and perhaps more meaningful.
This is the speech I gave at the opening ceremony of the Graduate School of Information at UC Berkeley in 2010. Abridged, but my advice is the same: start designing your life.
I am a designer. My school is very different from yours. There I was trained to be a full-time designer, designing daily necessities. I learned how to use my skills to create products that were more beautiful to look at, easier to use, and more engaging—and I spent my first few years working on this. The only problem is that most of the products designed become obsolete within a few months and fill up the garbage heap.
But I'm lucky. I discovered that I could apply my design skills to solve a variety of problems that, once solved, could have a big impact on the world. Compared to me, what you learn here will be vastly different from what you will experience over the next thirty years, and there is nothing you can do about it. But you can be prepared. My friend Pinky talks about this in "The Adventures of Johnny Bunko."
He said to use "intention" as a strategy to strike a balance between actively influencing your future and giving up unnecessary control. I think "intention" is the essence of design, so I think designing life is achievable.
I don’t want to describe a perfect life blueprint for you. Designers sometimes do that. We create a perfect picture of a possible future and hide it under a black cloth. With a click we rip the cloth off, expecting the client to be blown away and amazed, and then hoping they execute our vision perfectly. It may be possible to design cars and houses in this way, but it is definitely not suitable for designing life. But I believe that design thinking will help you design your life to be more satisfying, more interesting, more creative, and perhaps more meaningful. Consider these points: Don't ask "what", ask "why"
We are accustomed to accepting the problems that are put in front of us - the latest homework to be completed, the next business project. Designers are used to being a little dumber on this issue. They may even ask: Why do you ask this question?
The reason for this is because they know that pouring their creativity into answering the wrong questions is a mistake. So, before using your creativity to solve a problem, take the time to find the right problem. Open your eyes
Most of the time in life we ??fail to notice the things that really matter. I’m sure many of you here have loved ones who are unhappy because of us! The more familiar we are with something, the easier it is for us to take it for granted. As a result, we miss out on insights and inspiration, and we lose the ability to enjoy it.
Good design thinkers are observant. Great design thinkers observe the mundane and generate insights from them. Try making it a habit to stop every day and observe behaviors or objects like a detective looking at a crime scene. Why are manhole covers round? Why do I go to work dressed like this? How far away should I be from the person in front of me in line? What happens if you are color blind?
If you look closely, you may be surprised by the inspiration that comes from these ordinary things.
Draw
Draw what you observe and think. You can make a sketch or take a photo with your phone. Drawing them allows us to see things from a different perspective rather than relying solely on words and numbers.
Pictures provide context and include other relevant things to present a complete idea. Painting forces you to decide what you really want. Don't worry if you can't draw, just draw. Developing other people's ideas
Leonardo da Vinci's sketchbook contained not only his own ideas, but also those of many other inventors and engineers. He used these ideas as a starting point for his own thinking. Picasso also often used the works of other painters as the basis for his masterpieces.
Good ideas evolve. They don't just pop out of the brain of a genius.
Ignore how your professor brags about himself! Creativity is a social activity, and you must never hesitate to stand on the shoulders of others. Just remember to credit them when appropriate. Looking for Alternatives
Just as it is too easy to accept the problem that is presented to us, it is too easy for us to accept the first solution. Design thinkers identify different solutions that can compete with each other. Design is a Darwinian process, and diversity will always produce the most powerful ideas... >>
