Quzhou is known as "the thoroughfare of four provinces and the head of five roads". The five roads refer to: Liangzhe East Road (Quzhou, Wuzhou, Chuzhou, Wenzhou, Taizhou, Shaoxing to the east of Qianjiang River). The territory of Quzhou City is the western section of the Jinqu Basin.
