C: Hey, ScRaTcH_P, can you describe the personalities of yourself and the other three members of D-Evil in one sentence? Characteristics?
P: Sometimes I am calm but sometimes I am extreme. Lao Wang is very easy-going and funny. Guang Guang is very focused on interpersonal communication. Make friends.
C: Please describe your day.
D: Because we all have our own studies and work, we only have time to get together every week. We usually meet at 4 or 5 pm and have a meal while discussing recent activities, plans, etc. After dinner, everyone goes to our simple Studio to play some of the more rewarding songs we have listened to recently, and we discuss and enjoy them together. , see if there is anything we can learn from. Of course, if we have a plan to record songs, we will discuss our own songs.
P: I often get inspiration when I am listening to songs. Music pays more attention to the rendering of atmosphere. Therefore, the inspiration that comes out when listening to different styles of songs is quite different. In addition, in the dead of night, I still use an ordinary computer to make beats. Fruity loop, use Sound forge for sampling. Today’s software can simulate hardware. For example, if I don’t have an MPC, I use FL’s FPC. If I don’t have a MIDI keyboard, I use a typing keyboard to play the melody.
C: How was D-Evil originally established? How did everyone get to know each other?
Old Wang: In the beginning, we were discussing with each other online and recommending songs to each other. During the chat, we found that everyone was very knowledgeable. ***We talked about the same topic and found that everyone has a heartfelt love for Hip-hop. So we were no longer satisfied with communicating online. We finally met in 2002 because our hearts were connected. We all got along very well, and there were many topics to talk about. Our love for Hip-hop encouraged each other. We started planning to form our own band and create our own songs.
C: What do you think is the biggest feature of D-Evil compared to other domestic rap groups?
D: The biggest feature of D-Evil compared to other domestic rap groups is that each of the four of us has We have our own distinct characteristics and styles, and our own musical preferences, but the four of us can harmoniously form a unified group. We are all very creative, so our group's style is diverse and our works are rich.
C: What do you think of the current hip-hop environment in China? What kind of environment do you expect?
D: At present, the domestic public has very little understanding of hip-hop, and to some extent It can be said that it is distorted. In the domestic rap circle, we can increase communication, but of course there are still too few platforms and opportunities for communication. The environment I look forward to is that friends in the circle can often communicate and cooperate together, and the public can also have a little understanding of the current domestic original rap music.
C: Let’s talk about the proportion of R&B and Hip-hop in D-Evil’s future creations.
Guangguang: Our songs generally have two general directions. One is a relatively pure, relatively underground route; the other is a relatively popular, commercial, and mass-oriented route. In works for the general public, Ramp;B often appears in the Chrous part, which is my task. Sometimes there will also be a personal Ramp;B solo, but the group's works are still based on Hip- Mainly Hop, after all we are a rap group that started from Hip-Hop.
C: In addition to producing some singles, what other activities is D-Evil currently involved in? Will it sign a contract with a record company to produce an album? What are your plans for the future?
P: Recently we are cooperating with Nanjing Music Station as guests of the Uni-President Iced Black Tea My Music Feast College Tour. We have always attached great importance to publicity and performances in colleges and universities. It is easier for students to accept hip-hop when it is promoted in colleges and universities. We have also been contacted by record companies, but we are still considering the issue of signing and cooperation, because our purpose is to make the music we want to do, and we don’t want to be restricted by record companies to make music we don’t like. The future plans are still relatively vague, because there are still many unexpected things that will happen, but we will definitely start preparing for our album in a while, and the specific how to do it is still being planned.
