Original text:

Confucius said, "It's better to learn when you learn." Is it not delightful to have friends coming from distant quarters? Isn't it a gentleman to be ignorant and not satisfied? " Zeng Zi said, "I save myself three times a day: are you unfaithful to others?" Make friends without believing them? Can't you learn it? "

Confucius said, "I am determined to learn five times out of ten, standing at thirty, not confused at forty, knowing my destiny at fifty, obeying my ears at sixty, and doing what I want at seventy, without overstepping the bounds."

Confucius said, "Reviewing the past and learning the new can be a teacher." Confucius said, "Learning without thinking is useless, and thinking without learning is dangerous." Confucius said, "Good, come back! One scoop of food, one scoop of drink, in the mean lane, people can't bear their worries, and they don't change their fun when they go back. Xian zai, come back! " Confucius said, "Those who know are not as good as those who are good, and those who are good are not as good as those who are happy."

Confucius said, "Eat sparingly, drink water, bend your arms and pillow it, and enjoy it. Being unjust and rich and expensive is like a cloud to me. " Confucius said, "In a threesome, we must learn from each other. Choose the good and follow it, and change it if it is not good. "

Zi said in Sichuan, "The deceased is like a husband, and he never gives up day and night." Confucius said, "The three armies can win the handsome position, but ordinary men can't win the ambition." Zi Xia said, "I am knowledgeable and determined, and I am eager to ask questions and think about them. Benevolence is among them."

Creative background:

Confucius was engaged in preaching, teaching and dispelling doubts all his life, and was honored by China people as "the most holy teacher and a model for generations to come". Confucius' disciples and their descendants recorded the words, deeds, quotations and thoughts of Confucius and his disciples and made The Analects. Together with Mencius, the most outstanding successor, they are collectively called "Confucius and Mencius".

In the view of heaven, Confucius did not deny the existence of the ghosts and gods, and advocated acting according to etiquette and duty, and "keeping away from ghosts and gods". Confucius and Mencius are also called "Confucius and Mencius", and their thoughts are also called the Tao of Confucius and Mencius. Confucius was honored as "the most holy" and "the king of vegetarian food", while Ceng Zi was a saint and Mencius was a "sub-saint".

Confucius, who is well versed in Zhouyi, is said to be the author of Ten Wings. Confucius was the first person in ancient China to break through the religious attitude towards natural landscapes, and put forward the famous aesthetic proposition that "the wise enjoy water, while the benevolent enjoy Leshan".

Confucius' birth year is generally recorded as twenty-two years of Duke Xiang of Lu according to Historical Records of Confucius' Family, but the birth date and birthday are not recorded in Historical Records, and Confucius was born in October according to Gu Liang Biography. Converted to the current Gregorian calendar, it should be born on September 8, 551 BC. All the works of Confucius' life are included in The Analects by later generations and their disciples.

Confucius was born in Lu. Lu, the son of Zhou Gongdan, was a fief of Boqin, which preserved the cultural relics and ancient books of the Zhou Dynasty well and was known as the "land of rites and music". In the twenty-ninth year of Duke Xiang of Lu, Wu Gongzi's view of Ji Zha was happy with Lu, which was amazing. In the second year of Lu Zhaogong (the first 54 years), Han Xuanzi, a doctor of Jin Dynasty, visited Lu, and after reading the book, he praised "Zhou Li is all in Lu!" The cultural tradition of Lu and the downward trend of learning at that time had a great influence on the formation of Confucius' thought.

Confucius lost his father in his early years and his family declined. He once said, "I'm cheap because I'm few, so I can be contemptuous." When I was young, I used to be a "Commissioner" (managing granaries) and a "farmer" (managing cattle and sheep).

Although he lived in poverty, Confucius was "determined to learn" at the age of fifteen. He is good at learning from others. He once said, "When we are in a threesome, we must learn from each other. Choose the good and follow it, and change it if it is not good. " He has no regular teacher, and he never tires of learning. The villagers also praise him as "knowledgeable".

Confucius "stood at the age of thirty" and began to give lectures. Anyone who brings a little "beam repair" will be accepted as a student. Such as Yan Lu, Ceng Dian, Zilu, Bo Niu, Ran You, Zi Gong, Yan Yuan, etc., were among the earlier disciples.

Meng Yizi, son of Dr. Meng Xi of Lian Lu, and Uncle Jing of Nangong came to learn the ceremony, which shows that Confucius has become famous for running a school. The establishment of private schools broke the tradition of "learning in the government" and further promoted the downward movement of academic culture.
