Nayong County is located in the northwest of Guizhou Province and the south of Bijie City. It is named after Nayong because there is a Nayong River in the south of the county. The county has a subtropical monsoon climate with a total area of 3,328 square kilometers.

Bijie is located at the junction of Guizhou, Sichuan and Yunnan provinces, bordering Zhaotong in the northwest, Luzhou in the north, Zunyi in the northeast, Guiyang in the east, Anshun in the south, Liupanshui in the south and Qujing in the south.
