I am on the subway home now and have just attended the Sunday worship service at Beijing SP Church. This is a major event for Christians every Sunday. Here, there will be pastors who will sing hymns, pray, preach the Bible, and communicate with church members. For Christians, it is a self-rest after a busy week of work, and it is a time to get closer to God and receive spiritual baptism. Every time I attend Sunday worship and communicate with the pastor and sisters, my heart will be filled with love and hope. Only then can I have the energy to devote to the new work week.
However, this diary of mine is not about the Christian life. Rather, I would like to summarize what I have learned in recent years. Although the Internet era has made our communication more convenient, I have found that I crave offline social interaction more.
I would like to start with three things that I have personally experienced:
1. TOASTMASTER
Toastmaster was the first place that turned my life around, yes. , turned my life around, literally.
I had just graduated at the time, and I was relatively introverted. I was reticent, not good at talking, and had few friends.
All of this has changed with Toastmaster.
My ex-girlfriend, good friends, partners, noble people in life, career skills, English proficiency, and vision were all found and developed here.
Why is it so magical? Because deep social interaction can be achieved here.
There are foreigners here, people from various foreign companies, and people who love training and giving speeches. Here, there is a more multicultural atmosphere, and people-to-people exchanges The equality is particularly evident here. Because people are different, there will be more communication and curiosity between people. Weekly meetings, irregular training, and semi-annual national competitions will provide opportunities for in-depth cooperation and communication. These exchanges are all offline and warm, face-to-face, and most importantly, focused! Only in this way can you have a flow experience. You may find that the Internet is often fragmented. One second you are chatting with this person, the next second you are discussing issues with everyone in another 500-person group, and a few seconds later you are Maybe you're reading various WeChat articles on your phone... Your attention is highly fragmented and shifting at high speed all the time, consuming a lot of your energy and making deep thinking very scarce.
2. Christian Church
Today I listened to the pastor’s sermon in Christianity. After it ended, everyone felt immersed in the love of the Lord and the inspiration given to us by the Lord’s words. 1 Many hours of worship brought everyone's hearts into a very harmonious, grateful and fulfilling state. At the end of the worship, there will be a special afternoon tea time, where everyone can enjoy tea, communicate freely, and share this week I have gained, moved or confused, and got to know the new friends. Today I met two friends who are engaged in investment and filmmaking. One is from Taiwan, and I have communicated a lot with him. Among them, he talked about the blockchain When the exchange was attacked by DDOS, he was very surprised and thought that my research was so in-depth. He laughed out loud. Another brother works in film and television commercials, which is also very interesting. I also met a sister who is also from Guangzhou. I was so anxious to leave that I didn’t have time to have a deep chat. I’ll have a chance next time. Chatting and laughing with them makes me feel refreshed and comfortable.
3. Poker Party
Playing Poker is a hobby of mine. Every time I rent a loft, it feels like home. I bring a few close friends with me. Ingredients, board games, poker, delicious snacks, cooking together, chatting and laughing while playing, putting aside the worries of work and returning to the links with friends.
Face-to-face interaction and communication are extremely precious in the current fragmented communication era of the Internet and should be cherished.
