Su Dongpo and Wang Fu:
Under the steep rock wall of Qingshen Zhongyan Temple, there is a pool of clear water, crystal clear to the bottom. One day, the abbot of the temple came to Gongsheng Wangfang's academy and asked him to give the pool an elegant name. Since Wang Fang paid for the construction of this academy and opened it for teaching, he was looking for an opportunity to test the students' talents, so he asked each student to name the pool and write it on a piece of paper and submit it.
One by one, the students picked up their pens and quickly finished writing and handed it in. Only Su Dongpo has not yet written. He wandered alone by the pool for a long time, and suddenly he clapped his hands and sighed: "What a pity, there is not a single fish swimming in such a clear spring water!" Who would have thought that with this gentle tap, there would be fish in the cracks in the rocks of the pool. Swim out, shake your head and tail, and swim in and out of the water.
Su Dongpo's heart moved, so he wrote three words and handed it over. Wang Fang opened the notes one by one and saw vulgar names such as "Guanyu Pond", "Guanyu Pond" and "Fishing Pond". When he was about to open the last note, his daughter Wang Fu sent a maid to deliver a note. So he opened the two notes together.
Unexpectedly, Su Dongpo and Wang Fu unanimously gave this pond a very elegant and amazing name "Huangyu Pond". After the abbot monk obtained this reputation for the pool, he wanted to carve the three characters "calling fish pool" on the rock wall beside the pool, and asked Wang Fang to write it. Wang Fang still followed the same method, asking each student to write one and hand it in, and then invited famous people from Qingshen to come and comment.
On that day, the weather was fine, and dozens of pieces of calligraphy were hung beside the pool of Zhongyan Temple, all with the three words "calling fish pond" written on them. The cursive and seal characters each show their magical powers, which is dazzling. After a while, all the virtuous people arrived, young and old gathered together, and a huge crowd of people watched the excitement. Wang Fang's daughter Wang Fu also came with her maid.
A group of people chose from left to right, repeatedly criticized, and unanimously believed that the three characters "Calling Fish Pond" written by Su Dongpo were the most charming. Su Dongpo won the first prize in both selections. Wang Fang thought that the names of his daughter and Dongpo coincided by chance. Could it be that they were a perfect match made in heaven. So he recruited Su Dongpo as his son-in-law, and the talented man and the beautiful woman finally became a loving couple. That year Wang Fu was sixteen and Su Dongpo was eighteen.
When Su Dongpo was twenty-nine years old, his beloved wife Wang Fu left their young son Su Mai and died young in Kaifeng, Henan. The next year, Su Dongpo personally sent her coffin to her hometown for burial. Wang Fu is smart, virtuous, and knowledgeable. After eleven years of marriage, the relationship between the couple has been very deep. Su Dongpo, who lost his wife as a young man, was very sad and depressed.
Ten years later, when Su Dongpo was appointed magistrate of Zhucheng in Shandong, he also wrote a poem "Jiangchengzi" (a dream recorded on the night of the 20th day of the first lunar month of Yimao): "In ten years, life and death are so vast, without thinking. Unforgettable. Thousands of miles away from the lonely tomb, there is no place to speak of desolation." This poem expresses his deep longing for his deceased wife. It is so sad and moving that everyone who listens to it sheds tears.
Su Dongpo and Wang Runzhi:
Wang Fu passed away before Su Shi at the age of 27. Su Shi was so sad that he did not write any more poetry for three consecutive years. Later, under the arrangement of his elders, Su Shi married Wang Fu's cousin Wang Runzhi as his stepmother. Although Wang Runzhi was not as smart and modest as Wang Fu, he was also a very gentle and virtuous person and treated the children born to Wang Fu with dignity. Just like his own biological child.
Wang Runzhi was the person who accompanied Su Shi the longest. They lived together for 25 years and experienced various hardships together. It can be said that Wang Runzhi gave Su Shi the warmth of his family again.
Extended information:
Su Shi had a difficult life. Although he had high achievements in literature, he was demoted several times in the officialdom, and he was demoted further every time. In his later years, He was even demoted to Danzhou (today's Danzhou, Hainan), forgetting that his official career was not going well, and all three of his lovers died before him. "For ten years, life and death were blurred. Without thinking about it, I will never forget it." This sentence is enough to show how much Su Shi missed his late wife.
If "Ten years of life and death" is Su Shi's eulogy for Wang Fu, and "Only the same cave" (buried in the same cave after death) is Su Shi's promise to Wang Runzhi, then "untimely" "Only Chaoyun can recognize me. I play ancient tunes alone and miss you every time it rains." This is the praise given by Su Shi to Chaoyun.
Wang Chaoyun was a geisha bought by Su Shi in Hangzhou. She was only 12 years old at the time. As a geisha, although she was young, she also knew a lot about music, chess, calligraphy and painting. She was very popular with Su Shi. She was adopted by Su Shi at the age of 18. Taken as a concubine.
If Wang Runzhi made Su Shi feel the warmth of family, then Wang Chaoyun gave Su Shi spiritual comfort. "If you want to compare the West Lake to Xizi, it is always better to put on light makeup and heavy makeup" was written by Su Shi and Wang Chaoyun on their trip to the West Lake.
But it is very unfortunate that these three people all died before Su Shi. One can imagine how sad Su Shi was in his later years. Not only was he demoted, but he also caused his beloved people to suffer with him and became ill. passed away.
