Experience product: Renren IOS client
Software version: 8.0.7
Device model: iPhone5
Operating system: IOS 8.3
Experience time: 2015.7.18 - 2015.7.23
I. Visual experience
The overall feeling of this version of Renren’s IOS client is still good It is simple and easy to use (functions, interface), the color scheme is relatively comfortable, and the text gaps are properly handled. Let’s briefly talk about the page structure, interaction and some details.
1. It is inconvenient to read comments
Renren IOS client adopts a worse method when dealing with the problem of viewing earlier comments: when you want to read earlier comments When commenting, instead of scrolling to the bottom and the earlier comments will be loaded naturally, you have to go back to the top from the bottom, and then click on the top to view the earlier comments, and then the entire comment area switches to the earlier comments.
First of all, for users, this processing is quite unintuitive. It is a natural way of thinking to see the following loading incidentally. Secondly, it is too expensive to use. If you want to see earlier comments, you have to go back to the top and click.
Question 1: Maybe you don’t want it to be convenient for users to read earlier comments? I really don't understand why users should be prevented from viewing older comments.
Question 2: Users generally read the latest comments and don’t read them too early. First, you need to provide data to support this statement; second, if people really want to see you, why do you want to prevent them from seeing it?
2. Tap to send status, the camera pop-up speed is too slow
II. Function experience
1. The nickname in the forwarded content should be clickable to enter< /p>
As shown in the picture above, if you repost a news item that has been forwarded by many people, you cannot click on the nickname to enter the personal homepages of those who retweeted it (see the red line). The possible consideration is that the people who retweeted it have little to do with themselves, but in fact this is not reasonable.
The essence of Renren is to make friends more easily. There is a saying that "you can get to know everyone in the world through 6 people." The person you directly forward to is very close to you, and In this way, you can get to know more people more easily. So there's no reason why the nicknames shouldn't be clickable.
2. Skeptical about supporting voice when sending status
Renren must accompany pictures when sending voice, which is very unreasonable.
First, the method of matching pictures + voice obviously brings trouble to people who send status. Generally, when people send voice, it is rarely to explain pictures, but more often to accompany pictures with voice. This may be done to prevent the voice from being too monotonous, but this largely deviates from the original intention of voice.
Second, pictures aside, even if you can send voice alone, it will be convenient for the person sending it. Anyone who has used WeChat knows that this convenience can easily lead to people posting small dialog boxes on the screen to save trouble. Imagine that when you are looking at the status sent by your friends, you swipe the screen a few times and get nothing at all. All the information is a small dialog box indicating the length of time, and you will collapse. Therefore, if the status message supports voice, it will not be easy for users to intuitively understand the status message sent by their friends.
Third, the current social network has gradually entered an era of pictures, and people are increasingly pursuing simplicity and intuitiveness when reading.
3. Changes in the way of adding friends
The way of adding friends on Renren has gone through a process from strong social to weak social, and by default they can only follow each other.
#Look at next door Sina Weibo#
The reason why Sina Weibo uses weak social networking is because its core element is the new things that happen rather than the interconnected people. What it emphasizes is sharing things around you with the public users on Weibo, not just the friends around you. In such a huge social network, the relationship between people is relatively alienated. The purpose of following a person is not necessarily (or impossible) to be friends with him/her. The purpose is that he/she provides the information you need.
For example, if you like Fan Bingbing, you may not necessarily (or may not) become friends with her, but you are interested in her affairs and hope to know what movies she will make next and how she feels about filming. This is a typical weak social relationship, that is, prior to the relationship.
Renren is different. Renren connects us with the people around us. Based on the principle that people around us are more reliable, we believe that people are open and transparent. We actually make friends on Renren (most of them are real friends, of course). What we care more about is not the so-called public hot spots, but the things (around us) that are related to us, or the things of our friends. , Social interaction between people is the essence of establishing Renren. In this regard, Renren is somewhat similar to WeChat.
In recent years, everyone has mainly adopted weak social networking. You can change it back to strong social networking in the settings, which is obviously intended to promote weak social networking. There are various indications that Renren may have made changes after seeing the rise of Weibo and fearing that the content of social networks based on relationship building would be too monotonous. However, such modifications that contradict the core elements of the website appear to be somewhat unclear. This makes everyone look like a hodgepodge: one side emphasizes the relationship between people, while the other side feels alienated from each other; the other side wants to pay attention to things in the social circle, and the other side wants to pay attention to things in the big world. After this modification, you will notice that most people still pay very little unilateral attention, which means that most people still pay attention to each other. From this point of view, this modification may not have achieved the expected effect, and mutual attention is still limited. It adds a lot of trouble to users in vain. In addition, Renren imitates the weak social model of Weibo, but it does not achieve the effect of Weibo in terms of content creation. After all, its blood has strong social genes and campus social genes. People on Renren pay more attention to It’s still a matter between friends, which is why it never gets popular on the “Discover” page.
4. Set avatar
In terms of setting avatar, Renren does not do a very good job of synchronizing between the web page and the mobile phone. The web page uses a square avatar (Figure 2), while the IOS mobile version uses a round avatar (Figure 1).
It can be clearly seen that if an avatar is set on the mobile side, because under normal circumstances we cannot predict what the square shape on the web page will look like (letting users predict is not what a good product should do in essence) thing), it will cause the embarrassment on the right side above. The user painstakingly adjusts the circle frame on the mobile terminal, just because he does not want the subtitles to be exposed, but currently this is beyond his/her control. You must know that the avatar is a facade for users and is a very important thing. This kind of thing should never happen.
We all know that in recent years, many websites have adjusted their business focus to the mobile terminal, so it is reasonable not to pay much attention to the details of this synchronization. However, the most basic operations like setting an avatar belong to the category of "reliable" and error-free for a website or software, and do not belong to the category of do-or-not-do, so the most basic things like this still need to be done well. .
In addition, does the web version really not belong to the mobile version? Mobile devices also include tablets such as iPads. When we browse the web on mobile phones, we are often limited by the screen space and are unwilling to use the original version of Renren. But what about on the Pad? When the screen space is sufficient and the performance of the Pad client is not satisfactory, a considerable number of users (the exact number needs to be investigated can be determined) use the browser on their Pad to browse the original Renren web pages. So the importance of this synchronization is more important than imagined.
4. Summary
After experiencing the entire Renren IOS client, the interface design from appearance to color matching is quite simple and pleasing, and the interaction process is quite comfortable. As a Renren Old Internet users have also seen its progress in user experience, but considering the core functions and website positioning, they always feel that Renren is a bit vague.
1. The functions are complex but not refined
The functions are fairly well-organized, but the functional experience within a certain module is not concise enough. Take the "Discovery" module as an example. From previous versions to the present, imitated functions such as public accounts have been continuously added to Renren's system. This is not to say that it cannot be imitated, but it should be carefully considered when "using" it. Does it fit with itself?
For example, as far as the public account model is concerned, the public *** homepage can completely replace it.
First of all, the public *** homepage can be followed by you like a friend. The public *** homepage can push information to you in the form of new news or in the form of chat messages. In fact, this is already a public account, so there is no need to spend time developing a public account function.
However, due to the changes in the social network landscape in recent years, the entire website does not have a clear positioning from a macro perspective, so it is understandable that there is some ambiguity in the selection of functions.
2. The biggest problem of Renren: User fault
What is the fault: In terms of exit, users who enter the society from campus gradually fade out of Renren. From the entrance point of view, young college students will face WeChat, QQ, and Weibo.
Specific analysis:
1) Exports may be difficult to maintain, and Renren’s transformation from campus social networking to social networking has not been successful
First, domestic The public opinion environment in China is relatively closed and subject to government supervision. It is inconvenient to say many things, so it is difficult to form a state of communication that can be maintained beyond the campus.
Secondly, as far as everyone is concerned, I think people may have overlooked one point: in our Chinese culture, we value keeping a low profile and not standing out. It turns out that everyone imitating Facebook’s vision of openness and transparency between people is somewhat unsuitable. Compared with the West, which is more open and emphasizes individuals, in China, the older you get, the more you will pay attention to worldliness when speaking and doing things, and the communication between people will not be so open and transparent. This is why users who enter the society from campus will gradually Fade out of everyone. Therefore, WeChat, which handles privacy and grouping better, has the possibility of becoming popular. Moreover, the WeChat Moments have less noise and don’t have a lot of meaningless sharing and forwarding.
2) Under the impact of WeChat, QQ, and Weibo, it may be difficult to maintain the entrance.
First, older users who have never used Renren before are rarely bored enough to go to Renren to find old classmates.
Second, in the current context where Renren campus applications are not unique, young college students are more likely to be attracted by the simplicity and ease of use of WeChat, and some still retain the habit of using QQ.
So, should Renren position its target users at students?
From the above analysis, it can be seen that it is difficult for Renren to block the exit, and it is also difficult to guard the entrance.
In addition, the number of users between the exit and the entrance is not large. In 2014, there were only more than 26 million college students (including graduate students). Of course, the number of users must be less than this number: due to academic pressure, domestic students can basically say that the seal is not released until college. By the time they are in their third and fourth years of college, they are basically mature, understand the world, and know that they should be low-key, restrained, and not so affectionate. Shared publicly.
In summary, I think the target users should not be limited to students.
