Sun Ce is the eldest son of Sun Jian, named Bo Fu. Because Jian often fought abroad, he left his family in Shouchun. When Jian died, Ce was seventeen years old. He had already made friends with famous people and had a good reputation in Jianghuai.
In the first year of Xingping (194), Sun Ce went to see Yuan Shu. His skills were very amazing, but he refused to return his father's soldiers. At that time, Shu appointed his uncle Wu Jing as the prefect of Danyang, and Shu ordered Ce to go. Danyang recruited troops. Ce recruited hundreds of people, but was attacked by Zu Lang, the commander-in-chief of Jing County, and almost died. Ce went to see Shu again, who returned his father's army of more than a thousand soldiers, and appointed Ce as the captain of Huaiyi. At the beginning of the period, Xu Ce was appointed as the governor of Jiujiang, but in the end, someone else was appointed. Later, he sent a strategy to attack Lu Kang, the prefect of Lujiang. The countermeasures were: "If you get Kang now, you will have the real minister of Lujiang." However, after Ce conquered Lujiang, Shu appointed his old official Liu Xun as the prefect, which made Ce even more disappointed.
At this time, the area under the jurisdiction of Yangzhou included the two counties of Jiujiang and Lujiang to the north of the Yangtze River, and the four counties of Danyang, Wu, Kuaiji and Yuzhang in the south of the Yangtze River. Liu Yao, the governor of Yangzhou appointed by the Han Dynasty, was the younger brother of Liu Dai, the governor of Yanzhou. Both brothers were celebrities at that time. The capital of Yangzhou was originally in Shouchun, but later Shouchun was occupied by Yuan Shu. Liu Yao took Qu'a, the county seat of Danyang County (today's Danyang County, Jiangsu Province) as the state capital. Liu Yao drove Wu Jing, the prefect of Danyang used by Yuan Shu, to the north of the Yangtze River and sent Fan Neng and his troops were stationed at Mitun in Hengjiangjin (southeast of today's He County, Anhui), and Zhang Ying was stationed in Likou (east of today's He County) to resist Wu Jing and others. Jing and others attacked Fan Neng and others, but they were unable to do so for more than a year. In the second year of Xingping (195), Sun Ce asked Yuan Shu to assist Wu Jing. Ceyuan only had a thousand soldiers, dozens of horses, and hundreds of guests willing to follow him. By the time they arrived in Liyang (now Hexian County, Anhui Province), the number of people increased to five or six thousand. So he crossed the river to attack Liu Yao's Niuzhu camp and obtained a lot of grain and war equipment. At this time, Xue Li, the former Prime Minister of Pengcheng, who had taken refuge with Liu Yao, occupied Moling City, and Zuo Rong, the former Prime Minister of Xia Pi, occupied the south of Moling City. After Sun Ce defeated them, he attacked Liu Yao at Qu'a, but Yao abandoned his army and fled.
After Ce entered Qu'a, he gave labor to the officers and men and told the counties: "Those who came to surrender like Liu Yao, Zuo Rong and others did not ask any questions. Those who were happy to join the army would do their best and they would be eliminated again." If you don't like the gate, don't force it." So, within ten days, people gathered from all directions, and saw more than 20,000 soldiers and more than a thousand horses. The army is planned and managed in a strict manner, the soldiers abide by the restraints, and the chickens, dogs, and vegetables do not commit any crimes. Historically, Ce was described as "beautiful, able to laugh and talk, open-minded and receptive, and good at using people". Therefore, the soldiers used their lives to fight invincibly and were powerful in Jiangdong.
After Liu Yao and Zuo Rong were defeated by Sun Ce, they both went up the river to Yuzhang County. Zuo Rong used deceit to kill Zhu Hao, the governor of Yuzhang. Liu Yao marched from Pengze (now Hukou County, Jiangxi Province) to seek Rong, but Rong was defeated and went into the mountains, where he was killed by the mountain people. In the Han Dynasty, the famous scholar Hua Xin was appointed as the governor of Yuzhang.
Yuan Shu made no achievements in Huainan. He only cruelly squeezed the people and destroyed production. In the military, he suffered repeated defeats, but he still insisted on becoming emperor despite the advice of others. He had heard that Sun Jian had obtained the Han Dynasty's national seal in Luoyang, so he detained Jian's wife to force Sun Jian to hand over the seal. Later, Sun Ce heard that Yuan Shu was going to proclaim himself emperor, and he wrote a letter asking him to give in, but Yuan Shu refused to listen. So the two parties severed relations.
In the first year of Jian'an (196) when Yuan Shu proclaimed himself emperor, Sun Ce's general Zhu Zhi drove away Xu Gong, the prefect of Wu County, and Xu Gong defected to Wu Commandery Yan Baihu. Yan Baihu has more than ten thousand people and they gather everywhere. Sun Ce's generals advocated defeating Yan Baihu and others first. Ce said: "If tigers and other bandits have no great ambitions, they will become birds of prey." Ce then led his troops east across the Qiantang River to attack Wang Lang, the prefect of Kuaiji. Langgong Cao Yufan advised Lang: "It is better to avoid them than to make good use of troops." Lang refused to listen and was defeated twice before surrendering to Ce.
Sun Ce appointed himself the prefect of Kuaiji, and appointed Yu Fan as a meritorious officer, waiting to be treated as a friend. In the third year of Jian'an (198), Cao Cao made a plan to defeat the rebellious general and was granted the title of Marquis of Wu. He married Ce's younger brother Kuang with his younger brother and daughter, and married Ce's elder brother Ben's daughter for Zi Zhang. After Cao Zheng Wang Lang returned to the court, he thought he would admonish the officials and join the military affairs department.
Yuan Shu sent envoys to give seals and ribbons to Danyang Zongshuai Zulang and others. The envoys excited the mountains and rivers and attacked Sun Ce. Liu Yao rushed to Yuzhang. Taishi Ci fled to the mountains of Wuhu and called himself the Grand Administrator of Danyang. He moved into Jingxian County and was greatly attached to Shanyue. After Sun Ce pacified the eastern part of Danyang, he went west to attack Zulang in Lingyang (now northeast of Shidai, Anhui) and captured him. Ce said to Zulang: "You used to attack Gu Gu and cut off Gu Gu's saddle. Now you have established an army and established an army. Remove the abandoned ones." The old hatred can only be used, and it can be heard in the world. It is not just you, so don't be afraid." That is to say, Lang is the thief in the family.
Also, Taishi Ci was in Yongli (in today's Jingxian County, Anhui Province). He caught Ci's hand and said, "Would you rather know the evil in the Shenting Pavilion? If you can get me at this time, what will you do?" Ci said, "It's immeasurable." Ce laughed and said: "Today's matter, I should discuss it with you. I heard that you have righteousness, and you are a wise man in the world, but I have not been entrusted to you. I am a close friend of you, so don't worry about things not going as you wish." Ci is the superintendent of the sect. When Ce led the army to return, Tai Shi Ci and Zu Lang were leading the way, and the soldiers were proud of it.
At this time Liu Yao had died of illness in Yuzhang, leaving behind more than 10,000 people. Sun Ce ordered Tai Shi Ci to go to appease him, and said to Ci: "My ancestors, thousands of soldiers, are all on the highway (Yuan Shu's word highway). I am determined to establish a cause, and I will not give in to the highway to seek peace and security! What will happen next? In obedience to ministers, if you don't obey your advice, you...have to leave...now...you go to announce your intention to the song. Those who are happy with the song will come with it, and those who are not happy will be comforted...you need some soldiers. " How much is it?" Ci said: "There are unforgivable crimes. General Huan and Wen should die in repayment. Now... it is not appropriate to have more soldiers. A few dozen people will be enough." Ci will go north and never return." Ce said: "Ziyi (Tai Shi Ci's courtesy name Ziyi) has given up on me, who should I follow again?" He sent his farewell to Changmen, said goodbye to his wrists, "When can I return him?" He replied, "No more than sixty days." Compassionate behavior, the people who discussed it still said that it was not a plan. Ce said: "Although Taishi Ziyi is brave and courageous, he is not a man of freedom. His heart is moral and righteous, and he is serious about his promises. He promises his close friends with his intentions, and he will not bear the consequences even if he dies. Don't worry, gentlemen." Taishi Ciguo Returned as scheduled.
Not only did Ce have such trust in military generals, but he was also considerate and unsuspecting of senior civil servants. After the strategy was set in Jiangdong, Zhang Zhao, a native of Pengcheng who lived in Jiangdong, had great trust. "Ming Zhao was appointed as the long history, and the lieutenant general of the Fu army went to the hall to worship his mother. As if he were shoulder to shoulder, all civil and military matters were entrusted to Zhao." Because Zhang Zhao was quite prestigious, the northern scholar-bureaucrats attributed more of his achievements in starting a business to Zhang Zhao in their letters to him. Zhang Zhao felt very sorry and felt uneasy about advancing or retreating. Ce knew this, and said with a smile: "In the past, Guan and Zhong were equal, one was Zhongfu, the other was Zhongfu, and Duke Huan was the hegemon of the clan. Now I can use him to spread talents, and his fame does not matter to me?"
In the winter of the fourth year of Jian'an (199), he launched an attack on Liu Xun, the prefect of Lujiang, and captured Wancheng, capturing Yuan Shu, Liu Xun's wives and more than 30,000 troops. Xun fled and surrendered to Cao Cao. Ce received more than 2,000 soldiers and thousands of ships. Then he attacked Huang Zu, the prefect of Jiangxia in Liu Biao. Zu was defeated and captured his wife and 6,000 ships. Tens of thousands of ancestor soldiers were killed and drowned.
Ce then marched towards Yuzhang, but the prefect Hua Xin surrendered without a fight. Since Xin was highly respected in his years, Ce did not regard himself as the victor, but bowed to Xin personally and treated him as an honored guest.
Ce separated Luling County from Yuzhang County, with his brother Sun Ben as the prefect of Yuzhang, and Ben's younger brother as the prefect of Luling.
In the summer of the fifth year of Jian'an (200 years), he launched a campaign to the west to attack Huang Zu. Chen Deng, the prefect of Guangling, lured Yan Baihu's remaining party to attack Wu County. Since Ce defeated Huang Zu, he would fight back and attack Deng. When the army arrived at Dantu, it stopped temporarily because it was waiting to transport grain. His nature is fond of hunting, and he is capable of galloping. The horse he rides is fine and fine, but his subordinates cannot follow him. Suddenly they encountered three former Wu Commandery governors, Xu Gongke, who shot him in the cheek. They followed him on horseback and assassinated the tributes. Ce was seriously injured and died within a few days at the age of twenty-six.
