Introduction to Shaxi Town

Shaxi Town is located in the east-north of Xinzhou District, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, adjacent to Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, and at the junction of Xinzhou, Yushan and Guangfeng counties (districts). Shaxi Town, a thousand-year-old ancient town, has a long history of more than 2,100 years. It was named as early as the Han Dynasty and is known as the "Raodong Ancient Town". The town area is 75.39 square kilometers, and the town area is 3 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 13 administrative villages and 2 neighborhood committees. The permanent population is more than 50,000. It is one of the 100 famous towns in the country, one of the 500 pilot towns for small town construction in the country and 20 pilot towns for comprehensive reform in Jiangxi Province. Shaxi Town has an advantageous geographical location and prosperous commerce in the center of the town. With the town center as the base, it stimulates the economy of surrounding towns and villages. Shaxi is famous for its linen, with its output accounting for about one-third of the country's total. In 2015, documents from the Xinzhou District Urban and Rural Planning Bureau established Shaxi Town as the deputy center of Xinzhou District.
