Sheyang county vigorously develops efficient fisheries, strives to make Penaeus vannamei aquaculture bigger and stronger, and accelerates the pace of enriching the people and strengthening the village to run a well-off society. The aquaculture area in Sheyang County is 70,000 mu, with an annual output of 20,000 tons of Penaeus vannamei. It is the largest breeding base of Penaeus vannamei in Jiangsu Province, among which Xingqiao Town is one of the key breeding towns of Penaeus vannamei in Sheyang County. The aquaculture area of Xingqiao Town is10.2 million mu, including 7,500 mu of Penaeus vannamei, which is cultivated in more than 200 households in 5 villages and engaged in fishery medicine, aquatic feed and shrimp processing suitable for this project. 53 key farmers in Nanzhuang, Xinzhuang and Annan, three key villages with relatively concentrated farming in Xingqiao Town, have implemented efficient farming projects for Penaeus vannamei. In 2007, the project area produced 769 tons of Penaeus vannamei, with an output value of 169 1000 yuan, and the per capita net income of the village increased by 20.4% compared with 2006. The per capita net income of farmers in the project area exceeded 20%, 60 households were driven by radiation, and 200 new jobs were created, which achieved good social and economic benefits.
