This world-famous work, which has been circulated for more than a hundred years, was originally a chorus waltz, which was completed in Vienna on 1867, and was first performed at the concert held by the Vienna Male Chorus Association on February 15 of the same year. The full name of this piece is Beautiful Blue Multi-head Riverside Waltz. The repetition of the last line of a poem by Carl Inke, a poet with a white title;

The background of music creation is related to the Puao War which broke out in 1866. On July 3 this year, Austria was defeated in the battle of Sadova, and even Prussia reached the gate of the capital Vienna. Under the great pressure of Prussia, a depressing atmosphere enveloped the whole city. In order to reverse the depression of Vienna citizens, John von Herbeck (183 1- 1877), who was the conductor of Vienna Male Chorus Association before 1866, entrusted johann strauss to write a piece of music, but johann strauss was confident in vocal music creation, especially chorus creation. The earliest lyricist was Joseph Weil (182 1 ~ 1895), and now the lyricist is another poet, Franz von Gernat. Herbeck, a musician who commissioned johann strauss to compose music, was then the director of court music and a professor at the Conservatory of Music. This song received a general response at first, but on July 30th of the same year, when the composer personally conducted the performance, the Blue Tanghe Waltz was warmly welcomed and spread like wildfire, which has been icing on the cake for people all over the world. In Vienna, it is even known as Austria's "unofficial second national anthem" and has become the pride of the Austrian people.
